I want to start a serious diet and exercise program. I have to get in the right mindset and really do this. I'm very overweight right now so it would be hard for me to try real arobic type exercise because I get so out of breath. But I thought I could start walking everyday till I get some off and then I can start a more difficult exercise program. Just wondering when is the best time to exercise. Should I walk after dinner to burn those calories or in the morning???? Any diet tips are welcome.

I believe that everyone has a "prime time" for physical activity. Energy levels rise and fall during the day so if you know, generally, that you're more physically "up" at a certain time of day (and if you have the freedom of choice of course) I think you should opt for that particular time - whether it's morning, evening or somewhere in between. Taking into account metabolic rates and caloric burn and all won't do you a bit of good if you self-sabotage by picking a time of day you hate, simply because you read somewhere that it's best. For me, personally, my best time is around 10 AM but if I don't have that choice then my next best time is earlier in the day...say 7 or 8 or so, before I have the chance to whine my way out of it. I've been running for 25 years now and the temptation to whine or weasel my way out of it STILL exists, so don't knock yourself around too much if you get a bad case of the "lack-a-wannas." It happens to everyone once (or twice!) in awhile.

Well, I read about a study that said that it doesn't matter what time you exercise but I do believe it is a lot better to do it in the morning. 1-It'll be the first thing you do in the day, You will have more energy. 2-It'll help you feel better through out the day 3-If you exercises in the evening, you'll come home from work tired and you'll have this as a excuse for not doing any exercises.

There are really two answers to this question. 1) The most efficient and helpful method. There are actually different ways to interpret this as well. Cardio does boost your metabolism so morning is good because you'll start your day off right. It would also be good to do early evening as that is when your metabolism can start to slow down, it gets it back up again. 2) The one that you will stick to the most. If it fits into your schedule best in the morning, do the morning because you'll be more likely to stick with it, you'll also be less likely to find a reason not to do it as you have less time to come up with something. If evenings fit better, than do that. Whichever you can be most consistent with is what will work best for you. I personally like twice a day but I almost never hit the mornings except for weekends due to work issues. I'm new to this program, is there a good weight loss discussion group somewhere - the discussions don't seem very organized? Feel free to message me with any good topics that are going on. thanks!

the best way to lose weight is cardio vascular excersising, for instance jogging swimming and running. The best time of the day to do this is right before breakfast in the morning. After you eat if you work out you will only be burning the food that you just ate. So for maximum weight loss also you want to count your calories and tr to eat 500 less calories per day, this will lead to 3500 calories per week so about a pound a week. This is about as much as it is healthy to lose over a continuous period. Try to cut fried foods desserts and sodas out of your diets. Get alot of protein becuase it will help tremendously

If you want to re-shape your body it is good. I will suggest that you do your regular exercise every morning when you wake-up then the next one will be ok around 5pm to 6pm. Also you have to be sure that you take your bath every morning and eveny after the exercise. preferable with cold water. Eat alot of vegetables and less fatty foods.

Bath in cold water? What is the purpose of that? And how can you bathe in cold water? With my chronic pain cold water is impossible for me.

For execise, early morning is best. from my childhood, im listening to this from my parents, from family, and i himself also found that early morning is best time, ever out of total day. To start an excersise schedule, it is best time, before sunrise. Walking is always adviseble after dinner, but not after lunch. It is advisble to rest after lunch, as it helps you in the metabolism process.

I love to exercise. I get up early to work out every morning before work and then we have a gym here too at work, so I go down 3 days a week and walk for 30 minutes. Any bit helps especially if you're just starting out. I walk and run a lot. I would pace myself, if I were you. I would start out maybe 20 minutes a day until you exertion level escalates each day, then increase it to 30, then 45, then 60, and divvy up your plan. Do cardio for 30, then some weights (light) for the other 30 minutes. strength training burns more fat calories!

Yes, you should start off with just walking and get use to excercising. I think that it's good to walk in both the morning and evening. I doesn't matter which one if you only want to walk once a day.

I tend to stick to an exercise plan when I get up early and exercise. For a while, I went to the gym at 5:00 AM. This seems to be the time that works best for me. Prior to that, I attended a 6:00 AM aerobics class.

Most people choose early in the morning or later in the evening just for convenience. I think it all depends on the person. Just select the most comfortable and convenient time for you. Also check out this health tip: http://www.geocities.com/ulafrique/healthtips.html

The best time to exercise is any time that works for you. For me the best time is after I get off work. Yes, I am tired from work, but exercise gives me more energy and it helps me to relax and get my mind off the day's problems. A good type of exercise for people who are out of shape is tai chi. It is slow and gentle but it is great for flexability, balance and getting into shape for something more strenuous. Also once you learn it you can do it any where any time - no equipment needed.

The best time to do excercise would be in the morning before you have breakfast, it is great to start with walking as you can go for an early morning walk with the pollution is not so bad, and then you could progress from that to some other excercising.

Greetings. Your metablic rate (rate at which you burn calories) will stay up for 3-4 hours after you exercise. Therefore, some feel that two rounds of exercise for a lesser amount of time each is a very good way to keep your metabolic rate up for a greater amount of time. (It is also easier since you tire easily at this point. )Why not walk 20 minutes (or as long as you can tolerate) mid morning and mid afternoon? Exercising right before bed is usually not recommended as it will make you 'wired' (according to most professionals). Best of luck to you with your exercise program! You have taken a very important first step by committing to do it!

Is there a best time of day to exercise? Research on lung funciton, body rhythms, temperature, and hormone levels says one thing - to exercise around 6 pm. Surveys on exercise habits say another - to exercise in the morning before other commitments distract you, or during the day when you have a free period of time. Let's explore the pros and cons of when to exercise. Mornings Pros: • The majority of people who exercise consistently do so early in the day. It is easier to form the exercise habit through morning exercise. • Fewer distractions and schedule interruptions. • Can make time for exercise by getting up a bit earlier. • Raises your heart rate and metabolism to burn more calories earlier in the day. • Gives a feeling of physical energy for hours. • Improves your mental acuity for hours. • Cooler temperatures in summer. • Air pollution is lowest in the morning. • The body adjusts to your exercise time, so if you are training for a morning sports event, train in the morning. Cons: • Body temperature is at its lowest 1-3 hours before awakening, making morning a time of naturally lower energy and blood flow. • Cold, stiff muscles may be more prone to injury - be sure to warm up well before doing a higher intensity workout, and do gentle stretching. • If you do not enjoy morning exercise, you won't easily form a habit by choosing a morning workout time. • Because body temperature and hormones are higher in late afternoon, you probably get the same or better calorie-burning effects later in the day. noon and break time Pros: • Can make a habit to walk and exercise at lunch time and break time. • Can use a walking and exercise partner at work, school, or in your neighborhood. • Body temperature and hormone levels are higher than first thing in the morning. • Can help regulate the amount of food you feel like eating for lunch, can help you avoid break-time snacking. • I mproves blood flow to the brain so you are sharper in the afternoon. • Stress relief from work, school, or home stresses. Cons: • Time limits may not allow you to get in a full workout - any amount is good, but best if you can walk for 30-60 minutes or more at a stretch • Distractions and other commitments make keep you from walking and exercising at the appointed times. • Research shows that lung function is worst at noon. For an easy walk, you may not notice the difference. But for a vigorous workout or for those with lung problems, the 15-20% difference may be felt. Afternoon and After-Work Research shows afternoon (3-7 pm) to be the best time to exercise for both endurance and for building muscle Pros: • For most people, body temperature and hormone levels peak at 6 pm. Exercising 3 hours before or after the peak will give your your best workout for both endurance and building muscle. • Research shows lung function is best at 4-5 pm. • Muscles are warm and flexible. • Perceived exertion is lowest - how hard you feel yourself to be working at exercise. So you may be able to work out harder or faster by doing so in the afternoon. • Can help regulate the amount of food you feel like eating for dinner. • Stress relief after a day at work, school, or home. Cons: • Distractions and other commitments make keep you from walking and exercising at the appointed times. Evening Pros: • For most people, body temperature and hormone levels peak at 6 pm. Exercising 3 hours before or after the peak will give your your best workout for both endurance and building muscle. • Muscles are warm and flexible. • Perceived exertion is low - how hard you feel yourself to be working at exercise. So you may be able to work out harder or faster. • Can help regulate the amount of food you feel like eating for dinner. • Stress relief after a day at work, school, or home. Cons: • Distractions and other commitments make keep you from walking and exercising at the appointed times. • Need to allow one to three hours to wind down after walking or exercise to be able to fall asleep. • If you discover sleeping problems, need to schedule your workout earlier. • At dark times of the year, be sure to wear reflective gear. The Very Best Time The very best time to walk? Walking can only do you good if you doit. The best time to walk is the time that will fit best into your schedule so you can do it consistently. Experts agree - it is not the time of day that matters as much as finding the time you can set aside consistently for your workouts.

Early in the morning if it is arobic. That is the hardest type to stay with, I think. Once you get in the habit of adding it to your morning routine, it becomes easier. Your metabolism will be working in your favor during the day. If you are walking, I think you can do that anytime during the day. Maybe take several short walks or one long walk. I think if you put off exercising during the day, you might get to the end of it and not have time to do it. Or, by the end of the day, you might not have the energy to exercise. I have read of several stories on here about people losing lots of weight by just walking every day. Take it slow in the beginning and work up to a steady routine. I have heard from some sources that the best time to exercise is in the morning. It makes sense to me.
