Yes, it is very rewarding to watch your own seedlings appear in their pots ot trays, then to care for them in planting them out and watching them grow into mature plants. There is noting quite like picking your own fresh tomato and eating it straight away - the taste is definitely superior to the ones you buy in the shops AND you know there are no harmful pesticides etc on it!

I guess you will make a good agriculturist. Although it may not be as cheaper as you think, yet it is a very excellent thing to do. Nowadays, many people don't know how the vegetables and fruits they eat get to the market. Like here in Holland, except one go far to the village, one would never get to see any crop plants. you only see them in the market and beging to wonder where they came from.

I have started tomato seeds many times, but it seems that the plants aren't as healthy or fast growing as the ones that I buy. I don't have a good place to get them started where they can get sunshine, so I'm not sure if it's even worth it, but I still keep trying.

I love growing from seed, its so exciting seeing those first seed leaves emerge and then seeing the roots when it comes to pot on the seedling, I think you often end up with a healthier plant if it has spent its entire life with you, I often have die back on plants grown from cuttings probably beacuse they travel from oen climate to another between their garden or origen and mine. Its is cheaper too as you say

I too grow plants from seeds and i enjoy watching tmem grow out of seeds into big plants with lot of vegetables and flowers on them. i grow them in disposable plastic glasses and cups which are easily available and it really dont cost me much. We can grow lots of plants from the money needed to just buy one plant. But sure it requires a lot of time and patience from our side to do this.

That is a great idea. I have also heard of taking your tolet paper rolls and putting them on a paper plate and put potting soil in them and then put them in the ground and they will desenegrate when put in the ground. Thanks for your idea.
