Considering usability and access to the web content HTML site would be better. It will also be easy to update in the future and also allow flexibility to changes/modifications in the design.
Flash sites look nice but not every user has compatible plugins. Flash gives a user good browsing experience provided he has a good internet connection and compatible flash player.

Actually it depends on what you want to do. Html is good for compatibility almost anyone can read html once it is opened and they don't have to download any software but its content is limited. Flash is good for content but it takes to much speed because of its size and some people don't have flash so they have to download the software for it but it has cool effects. Flash and html together are the best because they don't take that much size and the content is awesome so I would prefer both together good luck!

i think the answer is using the html. by using flash to design your website (full flash) it will drive a problem of loading the page when the users wish to view it. so just use the html and do some cutting on it. and in order to make more attractive just put a flas banner or flash button. that would be amusing for your website

Flash does and can have it's place in web design but it is used so much these days its overkill. I'm from the old school of web design and as much as I love HTML I have been making extensive use of more CSS for the past few years.
Always remember that a person attention span on the internet is short term and if people have to scroll down alot they will pass and move on.

HTML site will be better. because most of the browsers can not support the flash because of heavy contents. You may present all things much better in HTML site. Because of its easyness more and more users will visit your site.

If you use flash design I'am sure your website is more good looking, but to make website using flash is not easy, if you isnterested to here one mailing list which discussed about flash, flash_newbies@yahoogroups.com, in this mailing list there are some files you can download. I hope it can help you, but html design it's not bad option, you can use timeline to make animation for your website.

I think a good mix of HTML and flash works really well but you have to cater for the people who have slow internet connections or dont enable flash but having HTML alternate code. I find flash only sites too much and perfer normal HTML with some flash additions

Hi Joshua,
I personally prefer to use HTML, simply because it is very simple to understand and easy to edit your webpages. And most importantly, there are plenty of free WYSIWIG HTML editor out there, and I would personally recommend you to use Mozilla Composer. Good luck with your website.

I would say (and you'll love this answer) both!.
Sites created purely in flash can sometimes look tacky, but it's a great thing to implement into a normal website.
When I design I site, I always have something done in flash; whether it be interactive diagrams, menus, intros, banners, etc.
There was a comment made about accessiblity, in my opiion this is not something that you have to worry about. Most people usually already have the flash plugin, and if they don't when they go on the site the option to get it is put right in front of their face... if they can't be bothered to get the flash plugin, chances are, they probably won't be spending much time on your site anyway.

It is always better to use pure html. Flash looks great and you can make some killer webpages with it. But then their's people who block flash from their web browser, or their's people that will view your site and have it crawl like a snail because Flash files can be huge even if you make them correctly and compress them to the max.
My advice would be to use html pure, and maybe do a few things with flash like make a menu in flash or something. Then create the same menu with html and offer it alternively on your page. Some link that says with flash menu or html menu.
It is often easier to use a database with pure html and using server side scripting like php or asp then it is to use flash to communicate to a server side language.
So all in all, USE PURE HTML. Pure HTML nowadays means html with CSS by the way.

It is true that a flash driven website, if done correctly is a wonderful thing. But will still pose accessability issues and alianate some of your users. It's also true that static html pages are easily updated. Which you choose will be dependant on the purpose of your site, flash works well for showcasing new products and portfoilos. But would fail as community style site because not all of your users could access your content. Css as come a long way in recent years and accompanied with some ajax could make your site very slick indeed. Checkout www.cssbeauty.com. The answer maybe a hybrid site coded html with flash elements embeded in the pages. Hope this was some help.
