I actually usually feel complemented. I chose to think that they are asking because I look so young and yet seem so wise.
For me, it is all perspective.

You are probably right, because if you do look youthful and
your comment are sage and thought provoking, I am sure that
does make people wonder just how old is this person...SS

I don't have a problem at all with people asking my age, not in telling it either. I am proud to admit that I am 56 years YOUNG, have earned every grey hair and line on my face too. LOL
Must admit though that I tell our son he is the cause of all of them but he just ignores me or says "yes ma that's why I am here on earth and in your life. That's why kids do".
Some people I know are very selfconscious about their age but I never have been one of them. The one thing about age that does annoy me is when the newspapers report on something and say "a woman aged 50 or whatever" whereas with men it is "a middle-aged man" or "a man in his 40's" when he is actually 49. Now that is annoying and blatant sexism.

Thanks very much for giving me best response and yes there are times when we do feel our age, but it soon passes. My other motto is "growing old disgracefully" because there is no point in always being good, particularly when we won't be here forever. LOL

You know I am going to begin using the '50 years young' term
instead of the other way around. I don't really think like an old person, who has the time. Sometimes my body tries to remind me that it has moved ahead in years, but I try to ignore it as much as possible. And as long as you have your
children around you, they will definitely keep you on your toes...Thanks for the post...SS

I don't mind telling my age. I reckon that age thing has never been that big of a deal to me. We all age and I am not ashamed. My hair is starting to grey now and I am proud of it. I like it and I am not planning on dying it either. Growing old is part of life. As long as I stay young at heart, that's all that matters to me.:-)

You are almost like my mother. She's so proud of her age and she shows her grey hair (even if you have to be close to see them lol)

Congradulations on your well deserved success. But not everyone feels as comfortable as you do about admitting their age, I think society and the media's has a lot to do with
how we view age and also beauty. But your attitude is definitely the healthy view and I think it will keep your spirit young...SS

I do not mind admitting I am 42 to someone. Problem is unless a person remembers how old I am, a lot of the time, since I have no kids, and look like I am in my 20s everyone seems to think of me as young, and that is what Bugs me. I would Love to sometimes remind them I am in my 40s, and Yes, I have been around, and experienced life.

That's about the only bug, that I love. I really enjoy people being unable to guess my age, I hope my aging and age will always be a mystery. I personally consider that a 'perk'...Thanks for the response...SS

I've never been the least uncomfortable about my age. Even when my Kindergarten classes laughed about me being "older than my Granny", I just laughed along with them. Age is only a number. To me it stands for experience. Otherwise, no one is any older than they feel.

I get uncomfortable a little, as I don't like mentioning it. For some reason, people tell me that they never would have guessed it, that I look 20 years younger easily, so I suppose I should be proud, but I rather not say anyway.

Whenever, I do feel a little bit down about my age I remind myself that everything and everyone ages, and I remind myself
how important 'enjoying the moment'is...SS

Sometimes yes because I don't look my age. I should be happy with that I look younger. I'M 25 and I look 19-20. Maybe when I will have 30 I'm gonna be ok with it, but for the moment it make me uncomfortable how they look at me when I told them my age.
Now everytime I tell it I say : I know I don't look like it, but I'M 25 lol
But sometimes when I'm around older people I have no problem with it.
It depend of my mood lol

I experienced the same problem, and I thought back then that
it was a problem, but it isn't, it is a blessing. Enjoy the
gift that you were given. Time flies by, never allow yourself
even a second to regret your youthful appearance, you
will be so much happier later on in life, if you accept, and
enjoy who you are right now.

It really depends on the "age" of the person asking, I have alot of young friends (teens, children) and I try to teach them it is impolite to ask the age of an adult.
As for the adult friends, acaquaintences -- I don't really mind - but will usually respond with you tell me yours I'll tell you mine. And men who ask who are not doctors, or otherwise in the catergory of needing to know - I just smile and walk away, it's good to keep them guessing and I'm married with a wedding band- so I don't know why they need to know.
Although, I am over 50 - I keep forgetting and think I am somewhere in the late 20 early 30 era of my life and therefore do not act according to the expectations of the mature woman, to contary -- I don't ever want to grow up to much -- it stifles the spirit, and suffocates the soul :)

I am uncomfortable when someone asks how old I am. I am not ashamed of my age really but I am older than my husband and I don't like people that I know to know this. So I avoid the subject as much as possible. People are always asking how old I am. For a long time I looked about ten years younger than my actual age. I think though, in the last 4 or 5 years I have started looking my age and I am not really happy with that.

Even though I have been asked my age many times, I could
never ask another adult their age. I think it is a personal
issue and unless they volunteer or we have become very close I would never do that. But not everyone shares my view, unfortunately...Thanks for sharing...SS

I am "just" 26 even though I sometimes feel like 46.. I do not have a problem telling someone my age... and i hope tat i will not in the future. We will all get "old" and we should be proud of who we are, no matter if we are 20, 30, 40 or even 70 =)

Aging is the one thing that no one can escape, and it isn't
such a bad thing, as long as you try your hardest to fill it with as many good memories as possible, you will enjoy the journey...and it is great to see that someone so young has such a positive outlook on aging, never let it go...SS

Since I have plenty of gray streaking the front of my hair, and have 2 kids and 5 grandchildren plus a husband of 36+ years, I have no problem with people knowing how old I am. I've earned every year and every gray hair! LOL! I'm 57.

You know they have ribbons and magnetic stickers and bands
for so many causes, I think we need a bracelet that display
our pride at being 50 and loving it, what do you think?

I do not have a problem with my age. If someone asks me how old I am I tell them. My granddaughter told me one day that I look younger then her friends mom. That made be really happy.
