I guess it all started when I woke up one day and simply did not want to get out of bed. I tried all of my usual mantras: "you are beautiful, and smart and dammit you count in the world" That one did not work, so I moved on to the "no fail band-aid no holds barred mood uplifter" - "You are a light unto the world" DID NOT WORK.. Don't get me wrong, I am a smart, some say attractive, funny, witty chick but every morning I am seized by the all consuming need to pull the covers over my head and say F***k It! Well at least until I realize that I am not independently wealthy and require income in order to survive... Anywho, enough about me-anbody got any advice?

All of that stuff you are saying won't count to you unless you truely believe in it. I am suffering from low self esteem and I am seeking psychological help for it. I have always had a low self image and not sure if it ever will get better but it's worth a try. Life is too short and it's a waste if you are going to be miserable. I know how it is, and it's hard but I am going to try to find something within myself that is worthy.

the blues man. nothin but bad beat blues. like a flu that you just cant kick. i'm not saying for amoment that i totally understand whats making you down. money yeah routine yeah there could be a million reasons feelings of guilt shame lonliness. the weight o fexpectation society puts on us to be sucessful like the media ramming stories of young rich atrrative celebs without a care in the world.
the way society works in general to compare one unto another its all so subjective.
hard to say what the best thing to do is. play your fave tunes? get high? just stay in bed? go out?
for me i just try to say f*ck it it could be worse could be some other poor sap yeah im skint but i never go hungry yeah im blue but as blue as the next guy?girl? ive got buddies and im alive and healthy and just try to appreciate that i'm a decent guy with good values not some total creep and the fact that every day is filled with possibility, good vibes and good folk an if i lie there in bed i could just be missing out on it all.
we only get one lap of the track so suck it up, roll wth the punches and dish out the love.

I feel just saying the right words won't do the trick as you have to believe it and act on it. I don't think we get depressed in one day but realise it one day for sure when nothing seems to work. I feel there are no magic pills and magic words or therapy that can get you out of it.
But yes if you get your priorities in life right. and start believing youself a little more each day and develop your self confidence and positive attitude by thinking postively in all situations. setting your goals a little shorter and act on them that will make you happy. We tend to become very negative and helpless which doesn't help. we have to beelive in ourslef that we are the same persobn who wrote our destiny and who can do it all over again. And always see the brighter side of the picture that they are many who don't have anything and thank god for whatever he ahs given us and learn to be braod minded and be comapssionate and do good deeds, this will give us inner satisfaction and make us happy.
Besides go for early morning walks it will relax and is simple good exercise. then you can try to do aerobics and few dance steps on your favourite music it will be good workout. Then doing yoga, meditation and deep breathing exercises with eyese closed also helps and chanting prayers like saying OM also generate positive vibrations which is good for you. then have a healthy active lifestyle by eatuing right healthy foods that uplights your mood, paklys sports like tennis, do community work , play with kids. and if you have chronic pression then one neds to take medical treatment but don't rely on medicines alone as theya re no magic pills. and they will work only when one has right attiude to life, has self confidnec, faith in onself and has will to live that he or she will succeed. good luck.

I know what you're going through. I have been battling with depression and a mixture of psychosis for five months now. Before, when my ailment was at full force, I was crying like crazy, throwing things around and pushing people away. I had no appetite for anything--even food. What my parents and I did was we consulted with a specialist doctor and she gave me medicine that would help me fight against my ailment. Other than medicine, I kept myself busy by doing all sorts of things--cleaning my room, doing aerobics, playing basketball, working at home and the most important--praying. It helps to have a strong faith because it gives you the strength to go on with fighting your "demons". It worked for me and I hope this would also work for you.

Go seek medical advice, depression can be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain, this can be corrected with anti-depressants. Go to a counsellor and talk if you know what the underlying problem is that's dragging you down. I had bead depression for 3 months, didn't know why and just thought it would pass IT DID NOT. good luck, hugs xx

im sorry sometimes i feel that way. i wake up and say to myself same b.s. but a different day. but then afterwards i snapped out of it and tell myself quit feeling sorry for yourself. if you dont like the predicament (spellcheck) then do something about it! so i just motivate myself and say nothing is going to change if you dont do nothing about it!

Maybe your bed is too cozy. Did you see the movie Nanny McPhee? When the children didn't want to get out of bed and pretended to be sick, she made it so they were glued to their beds and couldn't get up at all! And then they had to take horrid medicine. By the time the day was over they were so happy to get out of bed, they were jumping for joy.
The trick to wanting to get out of bed is having something to look forward to.

I am sorry that you have these feelings :/ I know how it goes. All in all I don't have that bad of a life, but some days it is hard to get out of bed. I haven't heard that one about the band aid.. I really like that one. The others I have tried to use before. Somtimes they help me a bit. It's always good to try to feel positive, even when your mood is really down. But at times it is just impossible. At those times you just have to remember that everything happens for a reason. I truly believe this. That makes it easier to face the day more than anything else that I've learned in my 31 years of life so far.

It is a good thing to be self-confident and self-imposed.. just saying something like "you are beautiful, smart.." and "you are one of the most excellent ones in the world".. keep a self-encourge mood to live happily...this is one side.
Another side, try your best to be realistic... don't miss the chance to make money and make your weathy....

Try having a book beside your bed. Read it everytime you wake up - it should get your eyes open as well as not making you get out of bed. ;)

I never understood true depression until one day I got into the shower to get ready for work...and then hours later realized I was still in the shower..water cold...and my job abandoned. Once you reach the darkness of the depths there will always be a piece of that with you and really I am a quite cheerful seeming person to most, but actually am quite pessimesstic about life and my chances of surviving to have made the time worth it...but I linger in case maybe I win God's lottery and discover meanign or something..might as well.

I think it is different for everybody. Sometimes, you just need to th row yourself a pity party, and that is ok, as long as you acknowledge that is what it is. Then sometimes you need some help. For me, zoloft and therapy for a few years has done wonders. Luck and love to you. :)

Its just a matter of your daily activities, depression is something like drowsy feeling and a feeling of worst thing like problem's in life that you can not escape about even you go else where,The important thing's to do right now is to how to earn money so you can maintain your expenses to your need's.

I teach and write about depression awareness. Don't ignore it and post discussions on it. Find a real live person to talk to about it. Get a check up with bloodwork and talk to a professional. It could be something simple, but you give the impression it has be around a few days. Are you taking some new supplements or started eating a new snack. Lots of things can contribute to depression. Some daily exercise like walking may help. Be smart be proactive.
