my religion discourages this holiday.so much evil happens on that night.people usually tell me i need to lighten up and let my child participate.i always go to the store and buy him a bag of candy around that time of year.

So does mine. However, we hand out candy at trick or treat. What we do is hand out little Bible games and things that talk about God and Jesus, so we try and make a good thing out of this day. That is good you follow it, and you don't need to lighten up.

Celebrating Halloween is not against my relgion. I see it as a way to get rid of spirits by scaring them away.

I am the same way as the last person who responded. We don't celebrate it at all, as the same with the other holidays. No Santa Claus or Easter Bunny, as those are false idols and not what we celebrate the holiday for. We need to start bring back the true meanings of the seasons.

Actually, the meanings of the seasons are pagan in origin. Easter comes from the pagan Eostre and Christmas comes from the pagan Yule. The bible states, not to do what the pagans do. That includes Christmas trees and gift giving. Also painted eggs come from pagans. There is so much pagan history behind many holidays.

My religion discourages this. We have Reformation Day instead. Many of us turn the lights off at night so the kids cannot come to our doors and some go out to church if there is something going on there. Me, my husband is not a believer so he hands out candy and stuff, but I usually find something to do. Last year there was Choir practice at Church so I went there. I will have to see if there is something going at church this year.

Oh, heavens no.
In my religion it's a major holiday, lol. And my personal favorite. It's very special to me.

My family has alway celebrated the holiday; it is a precurser to all Saints day and all Souls Day. In olden days, yes it would be considered pagenistic, but the chuch has interwined and then pretty much did away with the pagen part. There are so many other things in society (any) that I would consider bad, and would not and do not knowingly participate in.
