Hi. First let me welcome you to myLot. I hope you love it here. I suffer from frequent panic attacks and have for many years now. They have increased in severity and lenghth as I grow older. Now I take medication for them. I hate taking the pills but they do help. I get them mostly in crowed indoor spaces, like when I am shopping. I have had to leave carts full of groceries and leave the store suddenly because of them before. It isn't pretty. Are you on medication for yours? Also if you don't mind me asking, what is your age?

Thanks for welcoming me! I am 31. Yes i am on medication, Celexa, clonazapam, and trazadone. I agree that they do help, But am worried about the long term effect of them, as i have been on them for three years. My anxiety is Stressed induced, and it had screwed up so many jobs for me, I am now on social assistance disability. Try living on that. Which is another stress. I was getting to the point of becoming angoraphobic, but that seems to be getting better, as long as I go out with people i know and trust.
Im sure i will love it here:)

The doc tells me that I am boarderline agorophobic, so I know exactly what you mean. I am fortunate to have a wonderful hubby that understands usually and helps me. I have to force myself to go out usually, but I do it mostly for hubby. Have you tried talk therapy to reduce the stress? I know some therapies work better than others. I tried EMDR for a while, but I couldn't focus enough to get the full benefit of the treatment. I am 41 btw.

I have a great Boyfriend who is a big help. Ive been in cognitave behavioral therapy. That basically changes the way you think. Its very hard, but it does work. I got rid of alot of stress in my life, got out of a bad relationship, moved, done alot of things to make myself feel better. Then alot of things happened all at one, alot of stressful things, and bahm, back to square one.

Well, sometimes its unavoidable that we feel depressed for the day..but for the health its not a good side, i believe in Meditation which will balance our mind and helps to be normal at situations.

I get panic attacks regularly although I have them under control now. The thing I find most helpful is knowing that they are just panic attacks. The symptoms can be so scary, like not being able to breath or chest pains and just knowing that it isn't a heart attack and that I'm not going ot die etc. really helps me. The worst thing i find is when I get a new symptom that I haven't had before and then I go through the whole omg!I'm dying thing again.

I don't do crowded stores. I get really nervous when I am in a crowd of people that are moving in no particular rhyme or reason. I have had two random panic attacks when I was sitting in a room by myself and just started freaking out. A very odd experience. Most of the time it isn't an issue at all though.

I have been diagnosed with anxiety & panic disorder. It seemed weird to me because I didn't feel particularly stressed about anything, and the attacks would come out of nowhere and at relaxed times (e.g. trying to go to sleep!) I think the medication does help and there are quite a few of them available so if one doesn't agree with you, your doctor can switch to another. I have found exercise helps me and just being outside when possible. Good luck.
