A Rose, Jewelry, or a Homemade Card?

What kind of girl are you? Would you be satisfied with the things that come from the heart, like a Valentine Card made from scratch? Do you need a little bit more like a dazzling set of stud earrings? Would a Red Rose make you blush? I am a simple girl, so often times I do not ask for anything. But if a guy insisted on giving me something, a gift from the heart always makes me smile. I don't wear much jewelry, so that's out of the question and roses, well...they only last a few days. I'm a 'if you going to give me something, give me something that I can cherish forever' kind of girl. How about you?

I would have to say i am a simple girl. I have always said that the smallest gestures mean the most.
I prefer receiving a home made card or home made gift. These are the things that can last a lifetime. Instead of cards ect my partner would leave letters in the mailbox.. sweet romantic ones..i still have them to this day. I will forever cherish them.

I'm a simple person. I don't need a shiny bracelet or roses to make my day. A homemade card from my kids and my husband is the only thing I ever wanted. Only jewerly I wear is my wedding and engagement ring. And a cross necklace I got from a dear friend for Christmas.

Yeah to the simple girls!!! Girls like us are satisfied with things that come from the heart...things that people take their time and creativity to make. We don't ask for much and we receive everything our hearts desire. Thanks!!

You are right, it shouldn't matter what the gift is...as long as it is from the heart. Thanks.

Oh, give me the card any day!!! I'd much rather have something "special" than have the biggest set of diamond earrings ever!! I'm a simple girl! I love it when my man writes me notes...that's just awesome! I have to agree with you, that's the way I am too!

You are right...if he truly loves you he would want to make something so unique that you would just melt. And it wouldn't even matter if it was perfect or if he wasn't good at crafts...it is the thought that you are special in his life; in his world. So special that you deserve things that are priceless.

Same here, I also like something that I can cherish like cards. I prefer also a home made cards for I know that the person who gave it exert some effort to make that card and it is more valuable for me than other things that he might give me instead.

My husband is not a great romantic and I knew it from the day I started dating him. He does go buy me a mushy card for every occasion and I look forward to it. I would once like him to bring me home a rose, just one. Not for any occasion, but just to say I love you. I think I would like a nice pink rose.

Ahhh, are you being romantic towards him. Sometimes it helps when you start, or maybe drop him little hints during conversations. Say something like, "honey, would you ever buy me roses just because?" It would probably leave him wondering and maybe even cause him to do it one day. But at least he buys you cards...not many unromantic men do that. Thanks for sharing.

Same as you, i am a simple girl! I dont wear much jewelry coz i cant afford to have, and i dont like rose to be a present for me on valentine. I just wanted my guy to give me..himself as his present for me..I am already happy, contented being wiht him during that special holidays.

Girl...that is what I am talking about. Just knowing that he is there with you loving you unconditionally, is a gift by itself. That is truly sweet...thanks for sharing.

any of the three you mentioned will do..it's the sincerity of giving that matters..each of them may represent something special anyway..a homemade card is nice because through it the giver can show how much effort he made to express his love..a rose is also nice, the easiest one to give though..but along with the giver's sincerity, he can show through a rose how much he cherish his girl..a jewelry is of course also nice (LOL!)..from a jewelry, a girl may think that she's really special because her man spent money for her!...but still, it's the sincerity of giving that is most important..

Strong point...thanks. It's the thought the count the most. There are girls who depend on receiving gifts and when they do they get upset when it's not what they wanted or even valuable. But what they don't understand is that most time when you are given something...it means that you are special and that you are thought of. Thanks for sharing that....

Material things do matter nomatter how humble a person is..it so happens that it does make us happy..but it is temporary.
And I for that matter would love it if someone gifted me something...but if its a matter of choic ei wouldn't like flowers..I love cards...
that I would like anything that makes sense...cost doesn't count..

You have made a valid point, although everyone knows better than to get me gifts, receiving something that someone thought I deserve is always nice. And you are right...the cost of the gift shouldn't even matter. Thanks for sharing...

When we courting my husband would bring me little gifts, flowers and such that was great and appreciated and I enjoyed that time. But today after 11 years of marriage, its the daily "little" gifts that he gives me, like a fresh cup of coffee waiting for me each morning, giving me his jacket when he sees I'm chilled, making me fantastic dinners, doing the grocery shopping, just being there whenever, giving me lasting memories that dust can't cover, rust can't ruin, rain can't wash away, and time can't fade. So I'm like you the give me something I can cherish forever kinda girl :)

Reading your responds gave me chills, because you have stated what I would call the best gifts ever. Having someone that special to you and know that there is nothing more important than the little things...wow. No need for material things because what you share each day is priceless. Reminds me of how my boyfriend is. He gives me everything that I could ever ask for, which is nothing but his love and support. I cherish each moment he shares with me, each time he smiles, and each time he helps me out. I could never ask for anything more. I am shaking right now because your words touched my heart. You could not have described what you share better than "lasting memories that dust can't cover..." What better a gift than the "little" things you share with each other everyday. That was truly beautiful...Thank you girl. I wish you lasting love.

hmmm, good question!!! i love getting roses from my fiance, but they die to fast & he is so not artistic, if i got a handmade card, hed get our son to scribble on abit of paper.I say jewelery coz i can have it forever.Everyday i wear an amethyst ring, my engagement ring(wedding ring in 2 months!!!) a gold chain that my fiance bought me, but had to be replaced as our son broke it & i also wear a gold bracelet, that was my fiances mum & she gave to him & in turn gave it to me. All my jewelery is important to me 7 i feel bare & naked without it!

Oh Lordy! I am so odd! LOL!
I have been thrilled by a pair of socks! Adored my copper bottom pots and pans! Danced over a 17 inch cast iron frying pan! LOL!
Things I need as gifts are things I cherish. I hate shopping, usually buy jeans and tshirts to wear, and always seem to forget I need socks...I like to cook for my family and love seeing them eat enjoying the dishes I create for them so good cookware is important to me.
The few things I have that are dust collectors I also cherish because they were spur of the moment purchases which lets me know I am thought of often.
The best gifts are memories...those no one can take away...they can't get lost...they never break, they don't die...and they are always available any time I want to take them out to look at them...

You are absolutely right!!! The best things that we can be given are those that we can use and appreciate for years to come. And they definitely don't die...like flowers! You are not odd, I think that is great. You can be pleased with things that others wouldn't even consider being given. That's a good thing. Thanks for sharing that....

I'm a simple girl too, I want something that comes from the heart. My husband goes all out on that stuff, he puts a lot of thought into what he gives me, not just pick up a card and a bouquet of flowers. (Although those things are often WITH whatever else he gets) When he gets flowers he goes to a flower shop and picks out exactly what he wants, he gets a stuffed cow (I love cows) and puts it with the flowers, it definitely comes from him. He will spend days getting all the different parts of the "celebration" ready for me. It is really sweet.
I'm not a jewelry girl either... I have an armoire that is full of jewelry and all I wear in my wedding ring and sometimes a really pretty Christian Diore necklace.
My sons will make me cards and go out front and pick roses from the bushes. My 4yo loves to pick different colored flowers for me all the time and I think that is the greatest gift he could give me!
