Speculate on the effect of the new mylot star rating on the users.

First things first, are you happy with your star rating?
As we all know this is a fairly new feature of mylot and we have mixed emotions regarding this. As for me I'm happy with my rating as it gives me pride, though I guess this will change on a day to day basis.
Does this star rating have an effect on the users? Will it get rid of the spammers?

I think the star rating is a great idea. As far as I'm concerned, we're all differentm so if we get 10s or 1s, we can be secure in the knowledge that it takes all kinds to make a world, and that all kinds of people are involved in the ratings. We can't all be 10s, but we can do our best.

Yes, I agree. As mylot says it's we are still all equal in the mylot community.

Let me correct that: As mylot said, we are all equal in the mylot community.

I don't know if the star rating will get rid of spammers, but it might make people choose their discussions more carefully, if they realise that they will be judged on that respect also.
Sometimes people might only have a rating of 10 for their posts, but that might be due to the fact that they have just joined.
I have a rating of 9, as you do, and am unsure of why that is.
I don't know if it will make that much difference to whether people choose to respond to a discussion, but it might do.
I have seen a couple of ratings of 10, 9, and 8, as well as a 6.
I have not seen any others at this time.

I've seen 7 as a star rating and it doesn't mean that I'm a better responder. Who knows maybe tommorow my star rating would go down or up as mylot admin said it will change on a daily basis even if we're not logged in.

I'm fine with my rating. I've tried to respond to quality discussions with quality responses, and I think it reflects that. As a user, it encourages me, and offers me a new way to search for discussions. If a discussion has a response from someone with a high star rating, I'm likely to take a look at their profile to find discussions.
However, spammers are very hard to get rid of, and I doubt this will do it. It just makes it somewhat easier to avoid them, maybe.

Yeah I think the star ratings would eventually encourage other mylot users to more descriptive with their posts.
Well for the spammers, I agree that we can't get rid of them but eventually it has limited the usual spammers. I'm not seeing more of them today. Let's see later on. Thanks.

well, i dont really like the star ratings...on what ground is that based on? does it means that i have 10 points, but if someone complained me, i will have 9 points? and who's the one that could determine that i gave good or bad response? it may be bad to some, but it may be good to me...so who define that it's good or bad? if there's no proper system on this, i think it's very unfair and yet subjected to others on what rating to give you...

This is still a fairly new feature that is why we just have to speculate on how this might affect the users.

I just noticed it this evening. I don't even know what it means yet. I guess I'm behind on my emails. Anybody know what it means?

Okay...I just noticed a mylots alert that tells you all about the star rating. Go check it out.

I've checked it a while back. But still users have mixed emotions regarding this new feature.
