Our Home. What is the best thing I can do to get it ready and make it extremely marketable? Aside from cleaning and painting the 2 obvious choices. I want to do the best job I can, so it sells quicly and I don't have to live with people trodding through the house for very long... Any and all suggestions most welcomed and appreciations!

Aside from the painting and the curb appeal, which is great advice by the way, I think you want to minimize the clutter. I always used to think that if people saw all the clutter and the furniture they would think wow look how much van fit in this place...but I was wrong. The problem with clutter is that it takes their eyes and focus away from the house. It is best to stage the house with just the bare neccessities. that way the people can get a good look of how much furniture can fit but their focus remains on the house.

Thank-you both for all your fabulous advice. Check check and check on the outside curb appeal, painting and clutter...hope our house sells quick. I will keep you informed. Found an absolutely fabulous house for hubby and I to retire in. Gonna make a conditional offer and hopefully our house will sell very soon, so we can firm it up!

It is all about Curb Appeal. Get the front of your house looking as good as possible, so that when people pull up they right away say "Okay, I could live here." First impressions are important, and if your yard is messy or unappealing, that's going to stick with them.
