My guy friend throws up blood when he drinks too much

Well, I had a friend that will drink all day and night but when he stops drinking, he would throw up blood. I don't know why he's throwing up blood and I really want him to go to the hospital and seek some help and answers. I don't think he should be drinking again but it's like a addiction to him and he can't seem to stop. Even though he knows something is wrong he refuse to get a check up. What should I do or what can I do??? Does anyone know what he's having or what cause him to do that after drinking????

I have no clue but he needs to stop. If he can't stop then he needs to get help. his kidneys are probably so deteriated that he is just throwing up peices of it. Get him to a place where he can get help, like a rehabilitaional facility

Please convince him to be seen by a DR. If you can't do this alone find someone to help you. He needs help more than he doesn't want help. Take care Lovely_ Lady.

The above posters mentioned some very serious, but very likely causes. Damage to the stomach (like stmach ulcers) can cause vomiting (as can over drinking), constant vomiting can cause stomach acids to come up and errode the esophagas, which can also cause blood in the vomit. One of the most well known health problems is cerosis of the liver. I don't think this is treatable with medicine. A liver transplant would be needed. But the only way to know for sure what's wrong is fo him to see a doctor - ASAP!!!!

That can be a sign of stomach ulcers. It can also be a sign of one stomach ulcer. I knew someone that happened to. The doctor confirmed it was ulcers.

You have to get him to a doctor. First off to find out exactly what is happening. You cant treat it and fight it untill you know what it is. He has to be diagnosed.

Like eaforeman, I was going to say maybe he has a bleeding ulcer or even tears in his esophagus from the actual vomiting itself. I hope he'll consider getting some help... if he's binge drinking or drinking as much as you mentioned, on a regular basis, it sounds like it's time.

I really want to help him and have him taken care of but he doesn't seem to care much about his health and love drinking too much.

You boyfriend is in a big trouble. It seems to me he is going to a bad and paintfull ulcer. This is only the first bad thing that can happen, because the worst one is that his liver won't work anymore and that really a bad thing. Why can't u stop him from drinking? If he loves you the he doesn't want to let you lonley in this world, isn't it? Do something as soon as posible!

Well, he's not my boyfriend. He's just a really good guy friend of mine. I am really close to him but I wouldn't look at him like that.

Like 1 of the other posters said "take a backseat" you should if he is putting this all on you, Let him kill himself and dont hang around for you to get the blame! You can only try so much but if he isnt willin to change then it aint your problam anymore , Hes a friend not a relitive or a boyfriend, husband, etc, but from what i have seen, he likes to make people feel as if his problams are there faults to take the pressure off him, but thats just my opinion, im sure you will sort it out..

you can ask him to drinking pure water or mineral water every morning after he woke up from sleeping, at least half of a litre of pure water. it must to do, because it can neutralized toxic in his body.

He doesn't drink water all that much and that's what I notice about him and I did tell him that he needs to drink more water and less caffeine. He's a soda freak too. Rarely any water and that's really bad.

It is eatting away at his stomach lining. He will end up in the hospital if he doesnt stop. He may already have done too much damage to his body. Have him see a doctor.

It could be an ulcer. He really does need to get help, but he's probably afraid they'll try and get him to stop drinking. If he really is an addict there isn't much you can do to force him to get help.

He could have a lot of things wrong with him. You can call a doctor and see what all could be the cause. It could be his liver or his stomach. Sounds like a ulcer, but I'm not a doctor. You can go to WebMD and see if that will help.

Please ask him to go to the doctor since signs of Liver diseases only occur if it is now severe... Throwing up blood is a sign which may be diagnose as on a severe case. Please ask him to see the doctor at once.. Good luck

I am not a Dr. but i have been around the medical profession for many years now and have seen this before. The cases that I have seen is tearing of the asophugus. Caused by overdrinking.

Blood coming out is not a good sign my friend. It is really important for you and your boy friend to take this thing very seriously. As far as i know blood comes out of the body when some thing is not right inside. May be his liver i affected and needs immediate medical attention. One of my friend was in similar condition and on check up he found his liver affected becuse of drinking heavily. Finally he quited drinking after treatment and now he is really healthy and doing fine.
