Unorthodox places to plant a garden, would you?

Alright, I am looking to plant a fairly large garden this spring, but the only place I can come up with to put it is rather..strange. I have a smaller, fenced in back yard but my children play in it, and it doesnt' receive very much sun. My front yard is more open, and receives more sun. I am thinking of fencing it off (too many roaming neighborhood thieves..oh..I mean children) and turning it into a large garden. Nothing prevents me from doing this except the sheer oddity of having an entire front yard be a garden. What does anybody think?
