Of course it has problems, every windows has problems. Why do yau thing service pack 1 is released,to fix problems in windows.Vista will take all the resourses from your pc.For the nicest theme you need 2 Gb of ram to work properly. If you have an original DVD of the windows,if not don't connect to internet because when you connect microsoft will make it run so slow that you reinstal XP :)

You may Install Windows XP after formatting your PC...
Windows 98 is outdated now...
Windows Vista requires more resources so it is better to forget about it now...
Better you install Windows XP Professional or Home Edition, Whichever suits your purpose

I would definitely suggest Windows XP for that specification. There is little point in reinstalling Windows 98, because your system will comfortably support Windows XP which offers a much better environment. You would be able to run Windows Vista but the operating system is resource hungry and would probably slow your system down quite a fair amount, so this is not a practical choice.

due to your hardware specifications you should install windows xp but if you made a simple ram upgrade to at least 1gb you should be able to run the new windows vista without any kind of problems due to your hardware.
but before you should look if all of your applications will work correctly with the new windows vista
godd bye and good luck

I recomend Windows XP but don't forget the service packs because without them XP will get quite worse than others.

I tryed WIndows Vista Beta 2 before. I thought it would be better but on the other hand, it has a lot of bugs with very slow performance. They clam to give you high performance because Windows Vista can support external Flash Disk as an optional RAM. I also got problems when installing games on this OS. I can't seem to get a good performance and nice capability system. For now, looking at your computer details, you should get Windows XP. I would not recomend you to use Windows 98 anymore. Get a Windows ME edition if you have lower computer resources. What OS are you using now?

Vista is super but i need a strong computer for it processor at list 3 Ghz and Ram at list 1 GB.But if it's not bought by you and downloaded from internet it's makes you computer act like a Pentium 1 (133 Mhz :P ).For you case i recommand xp media center.but you have to close all the media center crap because you don't need them. It's more stable tha Xp professional with service pack 2

windows xp b'coz the minimum requirment of vista is 512mb ram it is sufficient but not better(it is minimum u have) so windows xp is better.
