I'd hate to be you, all that EXTRA responsibility (very busy as it is you see)...AND not being able to have certain animals because of hubbie's alergies...although I get all 'hay fevery' with whats in the air...come spring time i have red eyes...

Our children are now 22 and 24. :) Some of the past animals were when we had children but I am an animal lover and would take in every furry critter I could get my hands on IF my hubby wasn't allergic to most of them. We actually had 12 until a few months ago but the two gerbils passed away. We will not collect more pets (they are family members to us) as ours pass on as my husband's allergies have worsened. We will always have a canary (we love the singing) and a yorkie or two (they have no dander and don't shed so hubby isn't allergic) but sadly, will not be able to have any other animals. And yes, I take care of all of them!

At the present I don’t keep any pet at home. Earlier when my kids were small I used to keep pets like cats, dog and tortoises. The Siamese cat with white fur was so cute and clever. She was then given to a friend who loved her more than us. The poor dog unfortunately had his left hind limb different in color (black) from other limbs (white). My mother in law was told by her old friend that the dog would bring back luck to the family. Then my mother in law straight away gave away the dog to her friend who needed it to keep guard of her farm. My kids liked the pair of tortoises very much. But it ended up with disappearing themselves possibly into the nearby bushes.

We have- a pet turtle, 6 fish (which simply got to big before the turtle ate them, so now they're pets), 2 dogs, 2 cats, mice, and 2 snakes. Plus, I breed snakes and mice, but I don't consider them "pets". I look after all of them. As the stay at home mom, I kinda got handed all the joy of that. That's all the pets we've owned, except for 1 cat, which was unknowingly pregnant when we got her, which resulted in 6 kittens. We kept 2 (thus the 2 cats now), and got rid of all other cats. All the pets except 1 dog, 1 snake, and 1 cat belong to my 3 year old son.

Right now I have one dog (German Shepherd), and two cats. The cats are rescued cats that were going to be put to sleep, they are really huge cats, probably around 18# each. Previously I had a Great Dane, who was much bigger than me, 5 horses, and a flock of chickens. I'm the only person that looked after them, but now, my grandson likes to help.

Never heard of a flock of chooks, lol, although I have heard the terms mob, gang and bunch in regards to birds. I know most people don't consider chickens as pets, but they each had a name. My favorite was called 'Stewie', because he'd somehow fly out of the penned area every day at least once, and I kept telling him if he did it one more time he was going to end up in the stew-pot.
