On the contrary, I give positive ratings even when I disagree with the response. The only time I give negative ratings is if the reponse is irrelevant or is of one or two words or just a punctuation mark.

I agree with what you say. I just want to add that I do give negatives if people write hateful words or threats as well.

Totally agree, though i just read earlier today a discussion where someone said that one of the reasons for a negative rating would be disagreeing with his opinion. Hopefully he was joking. I'm allways rate my discussions and the discussions i'm participating in, unless i encounter an irrelevant answer, bad language & such, never for a diference of opinion since, as you said, it's just not possible for all of us to have the same opinion about a specific subject.

I agree with you. Though I do not rate my discussions, I do not also want others to ruin it. I'm trying my best to give a good response to others and try to post some good topics to discuss.

I agree. I mean, if someone does not agree with you, that is not a bad thing. WE should all try to be objective and listen to others' points of view. WE just might learn something!

Yup I could not agree with you more. As a matter of fact I have never given any negative ratings except on this one occasion when this fella was making personal attacks on everyone posting in the forum. I hope negative ratings arent used as a form of censorship for people who cannot look at other peoples points of view.

I agree. I give VERY few negative ratings. Most of them receive a positive one if they even tried to give me a decent answer. Hoepfully this is not happening, but some of the newbies may not understand the rating system.

I support your thinking that a person should not give negative ratings to people who post different opinions to what they agree on. To me myLot is a place where we can debate on anything as long as we follow the rules and never touch on over sensitive issues. I have given a negative rating once to a person who did a copy and paste thing into my thread, that's all.

I wouldn't suprise me if people did that. I totally agree with the fact that you should only use the negative rating button if someone is abusing MyLot. Don't abuse it because someone posts a discussion or leaves a comment that you don't agree with. That would be immature :-) Happy MyLotting!

I totally agree with you, I always take care while leaving rating, however i avoid giving the same unless i feel that the person is unnecessarily posting and doesnot relate to the topic. I wonder do we come to know whether our post is getting any kind of feedback? If Yes, How?

I agree with you. I do not understand this starsystem. yesterday i had a 99/100 and today a 98/100, sure it is still a perfect score but with it going down i think i must have recived a negative rating somehow and I know for sure that I always give quality responses, although I might not always agree with the person who started the subject. I always rate the people that respond to my discussions with a + as long as they stick to the subject and not answer just yes/no.

If an answer is well thought out, I will rate it. It doesn't matter if I agree with it or not. I will give a bad rating to one word answers. I hope that's how it works, because I'm reletively new here too.

Negative rating is not for people who do not agree with you!! It is only if anyone is seen abusing Mylots policy.. Every user at Mylot should know this.. Giving negative rating just because you do not agree is abusing itself. You are right that all users should be aware of not giving negative rating to everyone they do not agree.

i dont give negative ratings only because the response is against my opinion. i rate every response based on the sense, the logic, the information, and the worth of the response. it is not right to give people negative ratings because they think differently than you do.

I give negative rating only when a person sais something offensive or just posts one word respond... It's not o.k to rate people down just because you disagree with them.. It happend to me few times that I was rated down just because I said something that the one who opened the discussion didnt like...

ye totally!! that is just people that like to confuse or cba posting things that might help.. but they shouldnt give a negative rating because they dont agree with you.. man thats just childish....
