First off I would like to say I am a 10 so the rest of you are nothing to me ...lol. I am joking of course but on a serious note does it really change things much? I noticed I lost a few cents to which isn't a big deal but it happened when this got updated. I love the fact that it shows spammers in there true form but there low number.

I don't think I will ever understand MyLot. Yesterday I got a few extra cents (must have been yours, ha, ha), and to-day I am posting responses and my points are going up and down. I am trying really hard only to post responses to topics which I think are geniune and will not be removed. Must watch and see if I get a point after responding to your discussion.

I don´t think the star system will affect our earnings. Will have to wait and see though. It´s just like it was at school, the rating is supposed to give you an idea about how you´re doing. It can´t be the amount of posts one makes, because I haven´t made that many and my star rating is a 9. And I have been here for quite some time. That´s just my theory though, no one else but the myLot staff knows the "whys" and "hows".

Its definetely not the number of posts that counts towards the rating. I only get time to post abt 15-20 posts a day with any luck but I still have a rating of 9. It's definetely the quality of posts that matter. I love reading what other people say as well as rate the topics as well. I guess that counts.

If the quality of scraps is checked the persons at mylot.com must be havin a tuff time checkin all the posts... or they must be havin some system in place...
but i think the amount of money earned has definetly increased ... maybe or maynot be becoz of the rating...

I don't think that the star rating is factored into the earnings algorithm but I can't be sure. I think it's probably too early to say.
The star rating is something like the ratings on Ebay. It represents what other people think of your postings and whether you get many pluses (or minuses) and how many best answers you earn.
While I agree that people who consistently post good responses (and good topics) should be rewarded, I am not sure that a person's popularity or activity should affect their earnings too much.
I think that the recent big bump in earnings that some people saw today was due to a housekeeping exercise and that a number of discussions were deleted and maybe some users suspended. That money is always redistributed.

I really dont know how mylot rates us from 1 to 10. And I also dont notice if having a higher rating means higher earnings ,too. I hope it does so we can earn more.

this is what i understood from mylot guidelines.
users with a user rating of less than 100 will not yet have myLot reputation
myLot reputation is determined by the myLot community, not user
It doesn’t mean that 8 stars means “good user” and 5 stars means “bad user” only indicate how active user are
increase your reputation is by contributing quality topics, responses and comments and avoid breaking mylot rules!

Yes it seems like this because I have seen user with poinsts 1oo and star rating of 9 but user with points 1000 and star rating 6 or 7 . So it really is the quality which makes the difference.

I think the stars are good and bad. I only have a 3 but I'm not a spammer but people may percieve me to be because my star is so low. I'm wondering if is to do with activity on the site too. I joined about 2 weeks ago but in that time have only been active for 4 days so possibly I have a lower star because my average activity has been low?

Well I don't believe that stars affect anything. Its just your luck and the need to understand the Mylot system. It really depends on your posts and since they update payments every 24 hours, the change is certain if you have been on working this forum.

This person was asking if the new star rating system helps with us making more money. It seems like it has increased my earning since the first day but I always give good, quality answers and try to create interesting topics as well. You still have to create quality topics and comments in order to get more money as the rating itself will not do it alone. People can give a person plus ratings all the time even though their comments and discussions are not quality so I agree that the ratings should not increase a persons earnings.

I got my 6 star at my 140th post but then it declined to 5 and then I really have to struggle hard to get 6,now I have 6 but I want to make it to 10. I have not seen any increase in my earnings.

I don't think that the number affect the money at all. I think it may deter certian people from replying to certian discussions and will hopefully deter spammers. I am hoping we all make MORE money due to the starts.

Wow. I must get a little bit of money because I only have a 7 at the moment. How can I raise it? If I write good posts or what? I hope so because I want a higher star. :). At least an 9 or so.

So, that is how it works. I never knew my earning increases when my star rating increases. Well, I am not as good as you I suppose since I am only a 6 star. But I am trying to do better. Right now, I earn about 40 cents for 20 post a day, with a star rating of 6. Let me see how much it would is when my star changes. I hope it changes for the good. But I am so opinionated in matters, and I give my opinions rather frely for one so young, that people don't like it much and sometimes gives a negative rating. But then we cannot really change what we are, can we?

OK, so I know that I could look it up somewhere, I'm sure, but would anyone mind to just tell me what exactly the stars are for and what they count for? Obviously, I'm just a newb' here... lol. I would appreciate your help though ~

i think star ratings are more to do with what people think than with money, but i can be wrong as mylot's real close to the vest with it's payment system to avoid cheats. one trick i learned is if your polite in all answers, you shouldn't loose much (get too many negatives) even if you disagree with the poster's point of view.
