Why is every child "Beautiful and Special"?

Why is it that every time somebody is talking about their child/children they say how beautiful they are? And how gifted they are, surely no other child is as gifted?!
Obviously they're partial...but are there any parents out there who say "My kid is average. Belches the alphabet better than anybody in his class. I'm proud of him. He won't cure cancer. But he gets good grades and doesn't embarrass us."

Well, i am sure there are parents out there who say that. But the parents who say their child/ren is talented, gifted, beautiful, special or whatver says it because that is what they believe! And as parents we believe the best for our children, and agree that some other children are special, but nothing can top ours..

I like your discussion topic. I'm LOL'ing at the belching part. I have 3 kids. And of course I think my kids are wonderful and I do mention their accomplishments, but not all the time. None of them can belch the alphabet but I have been guility of doing it for them once in a while.
