My sister is a vegetarian, and just decided to become a vegan (they don't eat dairy products or meat). She's coming to visit for a couple of days. What foods can I buy that she can eat??? It seems like most products have some type of milk by-product in them.

You could make something like vegetable and rice casserole or rice and beans. Just make sure you read all the labels. Almost everything has milk and egg ingredients. There are also many different helpful vegetarian websites on the internet.

You want to look for foods made with soy milk. Are there any natural health food stores in your area, or organic food stores? I know you can get vegan products at Trader Joe's, and there are plenty of small vegan stores that cater specifically to vegan diets. You can do a search by your location to find them.

What about a lovely big vegetable stir fry? Maybe make some home made bread so you know it hasnt got anything she won't eat in it, use an olive oil based spread, do a big bowl of popcorn to snack on or make crudites with a fresh salsa dip. Other ideas are bean stews, aduki bean burgers, stuffed mushrooms. There are loads of things that are cheap and easy to make but watch out for dairy creeping in, thats often the biggest culprit.
