Is Windows XP best operating system or Windows 98

Windows Xp for me. I used to like Windows 98 before - that was way back. As of now I need to get my hands on Windows Vista....

I know alot of people say that window 98 were the most stable but window xp is much more better. To choose between them is really depend on your machine. if your computer were old machine then it is better if you use window 98 because you need atleast 256 ram to run window xp. Don't not choose an OS that your computer cannot run. I have one year experience as IT mentor and I come across a person running window xp on a old machine. That computer have only 128 ram and it take about 10 min just to boot up and load the window. With new window vista, it consume alot more ram. Do not upgrate your OS if your computer have less ram. it is not worth it. Use vista only if you but new and high end computer. The pc that I am using now is about 3 years old and I am not planning to install vista on it. I know that my pc will not support it.

Well, that would basically depend on the pc hardware available. If your hardware can take it, I think that Windows XP is way much better than Windows 98. But if your hardware requirements could not meet up with XP, sticking to 98 wouldn't be so bad.

windows xp is user friendly than windows 98. xp is like upgrade version of windows 98. plug and play when you put new hardware. more built in drivers available. but there is little problem in networking. windows 2000 is better on networking and server application.

You can use windows 98 for your computer to go faster but today's software, games, and hardware require windows xp. If you want to use windows 98 it's going to give a hard time. The choice at the end comes to you but personally I don't think windows 98 is a good choice for this year. I hope my response was helpful

you can not compare windows 98 to windows xp because both are different options , features quality according to their time.

I too liked windows 98 even when my classfellows shifted to XP , I was still using 98 but now I have both however now I I rarely use 98, just having it for backup so that if one window fails, I can do work on the other (also supports me in making ghost and recovering etc) I switched to XP for speed and security reasons, XP is far more fast when it comes to speed ! like copying data from one HD to the other, infact 98 cannot come to the level of XP

i also like windows 98 before, but after i learn how xp works, it's more comfort to me, i don't have to worry about the driver when i plug new hardware. good networking speed.

i think window 's is better but i cant wait to try vista

actually I love more win98se than xp .. since xp more eating my resource just for the fancy thing ... T_T but .. what can i do .. I must follow the world ... many application programer only make their application for xp ... n also microsoft allready leave the support (driver etc) for 98 group) ...

i think both xp and 98 r gud in their own ways......... i feel that 98 is faster then xp because xp uses more ram for graphics and other applications than 98...... but xp has a better interface then 98.......

I think windows XP is the best than windows 98.Windows XP is more stable and fast and more secure with great appearance. Also windows XP have more facility. Also windows XP have inbuild firewall.

I prefer Windows XP system by far. It's more sturdy operating system and have a lot more interactive features.

For me I'm using Windows XP now and I'll use vista when it comes to final with no bugs but the best stable Windows of course is Windows 98 but unfortunatelly we can't use it again because of the new softwares that will not respond and the graphical interface which is better in the newer windows but windows 98 is the best version of microsoft windows and is also the fastest and lighter for the computer.

In the very new future Windows Vista will be out. I haven't read up on what changes are being made but I've been assured that I'll want to upgrade if I'm going to be running a raid configuration on my hard drives. I think it's still in beta testing but should be out early this year

i think windows xp is better for me. it has a good performance and a great visualization. but i think everyone thinking will not be the same. so, it will be depend on you too. you like windows xp or windows 98. but i have seen more people like to use windows xp better than windows 98.
