one without the other is no good...
if you love and are not loved, you may feel incomplete and even get depressed thinking there's something wrong with you asking yourself why the other person doesn't love you back
if you are loved but don't love back, you may feel uncomfortable by the attention the other person gives you

I think both are equally good and should be applauded. To love anyone and to be loved by anyone, both are great feelings. One should cherish it. As far as I myself is concerned, i would say that i would love to be loved by someone and i myself would like to love somebody in future.

id rather be loved. its selfish, i know, but i feel that i can return the love that is given to me. it may be just cowrdice, but id rather give my attention to someone who loves me than falling helplessly inlove with someone without knowing if i'll be loved back.

I'd go with to be loved simply because when you love someone without the person loving you back, it causes pain and heart-ache to you... on the other hand, when I'm loved, I feel great. It's then left for the other person to select the one he or she is comfortable with i.e, to love or to be loved. Besides I think I'll love anyone who loves me, so we both win.
