I was watching the news and they said that the new plan in Iraq would include all the people of Iraq will recieve shares in the oil market there. I was so happy when I heard this for two reason. I was 1st excited for the people of Iraq as this should help them to live a better life and to have a stake in keeping that region safe from terrorist that would want to destroy that nation by destroying the oil wells. Then I got to thinking .... By doing this maybe the people that think we invaded Iraq to take it's oil, would not realize that our troops are there to save that country and not to take it over and steal it's oil. I know over the years that it did seem that way.
So do you think this plan will work to better the lives of Iraqi people? Is Bush just blowing hot air again to get people off of his back about the oil issue?
Also If there are and Iraqi people here, I would really like to know if you think this will been done? And if so, how do you feel it will better your lives?

YES...i agree...but these gulf countries have the sense to earn more money within the time. yes...for example, only $5.00 is enough for the production of oils per barrel. But they sell it to the market at the price of $50.00 to $80.00 per barrel....

i feel this is a move done not with the intention of showing their gratitude towards the warn-torn ppl of that country, but to give an idea that they are caring in nature which is really not so.
this is move done just to pacify the whole world. the real question what is that the people will be gaining by means of getting shares in that. it shouldnt be peanuts while the US will be enjoying a whole HAMBURGER by exploiting the rich oil sources of IRAQ
lets wait and watch

it's fantastic news atleast for the people of iraq ........this will improve the life of common people of iraq but this won't prevent terrorist by attacking. they want to destroy the harmony between people they want to destroy the peace ........they want monarchy rule that will be ruled by their so called rulers. and we all have to get united against this if we want to live a healthy life and have a platform for our children so get united against all terrorist .........beleive in humanity.

I still would not like to believe that poor Iraqis will get their share of their their national reserve "OIL". If it is true then it is a great news for the people of iraq as it will definately rise their standard of living, and the secretarian violence will stop and peace will prevail amoung the iraqi.
But i think Bush will retract from his promise. This is just a fake political stunt. As we all know that Bush was here to capture OIL not saddam.

Oil in Iraq is I think the first motivating factor why the US put its firm presence in that country. Its business. Oil is practically important now a days to propel the economy of the countries of today especially that of the United States. Next to Iraq, the US would target Iran, the third largest producing country in the world.

I'll believe it when I see it. After these years, I think it fair to say that it comes a little late. It would have gone a long way to help Chalabi get into power as Bush wished a couple of years ago!!
I hope he means it, and I hope someone can find a way to get the troops home safe. ASAP. If America hadn't lost the peace, they could have bought the oil!! (still can eventually!)

my oppinion, and this is my oppinion only i could be totally wrong, but my oppinion is that it's probably a gesture that sounds great, but won't actually materialise to be as good as it sounds.
and it isn't just a case of us taking iraq's oil. what our governments want to do is buy their oil from them at an extremely low price, that is favourable to us but probably will not make them as much money as they should be getting from us.
this is what people mean when they say 'we're taking iraq's oil'. it's not literally taking their oil, more trying to exploit them.
