I have found that AVG (a free program) does the best job for me. I don't know where my husband got it from, but I'm sure you could search for "AVG Free edition" and you would be able to get it. It's very user-friendly and does a great job with its anti-virus protection.
Hope that helped!

norton is a useless one...i m sorry to say this...but is really a useless one..it eats up the resources and has one of the slowest scanning engine in the world....and has not detected many of the viruses when i had used it earlier....and even if it detects, it will just say it cant quarantine or delete many a time

i have been using nod32 for a year now and have no regrets using it for a lot of reasons :
1. uses very little system resources
2. virus definition update files r of very small size and it is updated regularly (even a year of updates occupy only 6 mb)
3. detects viruses even if it not in its database (though cannot remove it unless u update but quarantines it anyhow)
Note that it will not detect a file which behaves like a virus but not a virus.. that is why it does detect dummy viruses used for testing some antivirus prg.. and update it regularly..
Also it does not have a very beautiful interface like other anitvirus software

Nod32,bitdefender,RAV are all made in Romania but the earlyer versions were not so good,i don't know the recent versions are like.Nod32 is freeware so don't expect much from him as is not very good (if it were good the probabli they would sell it to you,not give for free) and Bit Defender 10 is super and has been bought by F-Secure.

I would recommend Panda Internet Security - the best antivirus program out there.

hi..don't get confuse. i did use many versions of antivirus since past few years. i used
norton, pcclin, skypers, mcafe, avg including the most extremely expensive :sophos. from my experiences the best anti virus goes to AVG. you must be in wondered, why? the reason is the total size of AVG is small and for sure it won't slow down your computer. but please find the latest free edition on AVG and the AVG anti spyware. it's very easy and very effective to deal with those virus, worms, and trojan.

I tryed different anti viruses: norton, f-secure, avg and others. I didn't have any problem whith these ones, so the one I prefer is AVG "free edition", because is free. I'm using it from two years without problems and lots of my friende use it too.

I suggest McAfee Internet Security. It's an all in one protection and securty software in aspect of Spam, virus, trojan, spyware, hacker, firewall and other advance tecnology protection system. I used it for years now and i found it to be very powerfull. I also been testing other security software such as Avast, AVG, ZoneAlarm, and Norton. AVG is quite unefective as it owns by a small company and doesn't protect you from hackers. ZoneAlarm and Norton uses a lot of memory giving you a very slow performance. Furthermore, there are quite irritating when they detect wrongly. Avast is quite good for those who want free and reliable protection software. What are you using now? How is the performance?

well what i know about my experience is to download mcafee and then scan and then remove the viruses after that remove mcafee because it will tell you that ur own files are viruses when they are not or you can just turn it off from the sytem tool bar and then if you have a virus again turn it back on

I am using AVG7.5 from free.grisoft.com .it's a pretty good antivirus which runs on minimal system resources. They keep updates constantly and that irritates me sometimes though. But I would recommend you to use this anitvirus packeage...
