am just wondering, given some bad publicity on security matters of Philippines, whether you still like to travel,or think of visiting the Philipines? i mean security in the PHilippines is not that bad, and the Philippines has a lot of good tourist spots to offer.

when my boyfriend from sweden visited our country and spent two weeks here last year, he loved it here and hated leaving. he liked the weather and the people around. and he will come back in july to stay longer! and by then, i'll be going to sweden with him already.
we had been to bohol and spent a week in a private beach there. and the beach was really so beautiful! we had been to cebu city, too. but honestly, we did not like our stay there because of the taxi drivers who ask for so much money. and since i am from davao city, we spent some days here with my family and he felt really welcome.
philippines has lots to offer. and on july, we will be going to manila!

Hi this is to all those westerners that are afraid to travel to the Philippines. Please dont always beleave what you here. You really have to travel here to see for yourself how it REALLY is here. Take it from me I am a westerner now living here after travelling here a number of times (not to mention all the other counries i have travelled too). I have been from 1 end of the Philippines too the other with no real problem at all. Security is far better than were I am from. We didnt have 4 guards at every bank( and this is just so people here have a job not because its really needed) and not just restricted to banks but shopping malls, subdivisions, etc if you want to find out more just go to my website http://shano1962.tripod.com/

I certainly would love to visit the Philippines some day as I know several people that live or have lived there. I have heard there is some security issues over there which does concern me. Going out of the country in general is a concern these days. Hopefully at some point I will get to go there and see how beautiful it is there. I know the people there are very nice and friendly and very kind.

My wife comes from the Philippines, Bacolod City, so she advises me on travel in and around the area, and usually she is with me also. I have never felt 100% safe while travelling, but then again I never have in any country.
My first visit to the Philippines a few years ago was to Mindanao, Davao and Cagayan de Oro, and I did not feel safe at all, my government actually advises that we shouldn't travel to that part of the Philippines but I was with friends that live there.

hey, i live near one of the places you were talking about. there has really been a lot of misconception about MINDANAO. Some people tend to stereotype that all of MINDANAO is a security hot spot. but that is not true. there are just some places where rebels are tend to be seen but these are in the mountains, in the forests, very far from the city. You should visit the PHilippines some other time for you to see the beauty of its scenery, the hospitality of its people, the warmth of Filipinos.. i surely will welcome you here in my country.

Nothing to fear travel somewhere part in the Philippines unless you should wisely known an information from Philippine Embassy where geographically there is place where peace and order secured especially Territory of National Capital Region. If you wish to tour in southern part of Mindanao be aware of trouble there. Even the place infested by NPA's or Abu Sayyaf Group.

Just like travelling in any country, one needs to take extra precautions before going to the Philippines - do some research, get to know the places, get in touch with a local. It's a crazy place - people are always smiling and everyone is happy. Laughter can be heard in public places. They say it is a poor country but the people eat in luxurious restaurants, they wear nice branded clothes, they have coffee by the bay and the women are so beautiful.
The most beautiful sunset can be seen in the Philippines. If you get the chance to have Filipino friends they are very warm and hospitable. They love their family. They don't divorce. Children are well disciplined. The people's sense of humor is a riot, they are capable of making fun of themselves- in a clean good way. Money doesn't buy happiness - that's what you will see in the Philippines. And most of the Filipinos are well educated. They have a strong sense of nationality, of love for their country. I am proud to be a smart Filipino.:)

no i am not, first because i am from the Philippines and i know that those things about australia, the u.s. and other nations travel advisory about the Philippines is not really what they seem to be. true that there are crime incidence but really are very isolated cases compared to terrorist activities as those nations cliamed. greetings. : )

in our country Philippines , its not that bad as others may think from what they heard or may have expereinced . there are some areas that people are rude but just in remote , rural or those in big cities downtowns . for sure i can guarantee that you gonna enjoy if you go to cities like Cebu , Davao , Pangasinan , Palawan , Bacolod then visit the provinces with the wonderful beaches then you gonna misjudge our country coz you gonna have lots of fun.

I'm Filipina and am so chicken living here in the Philippines. I'm afraid of jeeps and busses so if I ever have to take them, I make sure I go in ones without lots of guys. If on a jeep, I prefer to seat in front. I was just speaking to an American who comes here for work and at first he said it's not scary at all for him, then he starts talking about how scary it was to walk from his hotel in Malate to get to a restaurant nearby... that was funny. Just like anywhere in the world, you have to be careful and take precaution. Stay away from the white cabs though for now, too many bad news about it.

I wouldn't feel unsafe traveling in the Philippines. There is danger anywhere that you go, whether you know it's there or not.
