Advice for a newbie

Just find discussions that interest you and respond to them. You do not have to respond to everything you see. Do not respond with short one or two word answers. Use several sentences. Elaborate when you can. Never attack or call someone names just because they don't agree with you.
Rate all responses to your discussions. Those are the buttons on the right in the squares, the -, the + and the !. The - is for poor answers, one word or totally off topic, or just plain mean. The + is for good answers whether they agree or not. Well thought out articulate answers. The ! is for stolen answers or answers that you find offensive or inflammatory. It is a report function. If a user gets enough of those, they get kicked off.
Pick friends that have things in common with you as you can help each other by answering each other's posts.
Join interest groups. On the right are your interests with recent activity.

seriously buddy.. if there was a sticky system in here.. i would have requested mylot to make this thread or discussion a sticky.. or pin it.. cze it really does contain nice advice for newbies and pretty much answers their most first time questions.. good thinking!

I had written much the same thing for a new friend a few minutes before and decided that it would be good advice for all newbies, not just my new friend. I thought it might help avoid confusion and explain a few things and etiquette.

You definitely know your way around Mylot! ^_^ It took me a few days to learn all of these tips myself. I do wish that your post or one like this could be in the FAQ's somewhere at Mylot. The FAQ's are great, but are really not as helpful as what a lot of members here have posted in the way of tips for new users! *laugh* Yes - anyone following your advice should be making quite a bit of money (and having plenty of fun! ^_^ ) in no time at all! Just look at me, my 13th day here and I've already made $35! I love Mylot ^_^ And I thank you for your tips! ^_^

That certainly is good and timely advice, Trace86...
Good for newbies as well as those who've been away from Mylot for the past couple of weeks...
Some of these people have returned to see that things have changed and are , to me, starting to get much better! :)

Thanks Trace86 for your quick tips. These are very important for people like me who are not very old in MyLot. It would be great if you could clarify on how the comments function works. I mean, I do make a comment to all the responses i get but does that benefit me in anyform?
