Yesterday I saw a reportage about India and I was scared learning it misses 50 millions of women because they kill female foetus. Abortion is legal but doctors say if the baby will be a girl or a boy (this is illegal) and so, when a woman is expecting a girl, she aborts because girls cannot keep their family, and because parents have to pay a dowry when their daughter marry...
Lack of women leads to traffics
I find this horrible and pitiful
Did you know that? what do you think about that?

I strongly condemn this comment being made on some senseless report.I am an Indian and I can give u a massive list of Indian females who are Astranauts, doctors, engineers, fashion designers, Industrialists, managers, actors, socialists and scholars and students in Universities all over the World and proud children of their parents.Whatever is discussed in the posting is completely baseless and shows the narrow mindedness of the people making such postings .

Just because some people do such act , you cannot blame all the Indian's. This is because of some uncultured and uneducated people. But our govt has passed certail regulatios which will decrease this.

My dear friend eicher ,what are u trying to do,i am an indian and deeply hurt by your posting where u have used the words ,are indians mad, istrongly condemn this and say that this statement could be given by only a narrow minded person. What u have heard might be a case with only few individuals and that too several years back.my dear friend if u know little about indians u willknow that many of our gods are females ,we respect them, and tere is absolutely no descrimnation in our society.I think we indians deserve an apology from u. If u still dont do that ,we feel that ,may god help u to be a little more sensible and disallow ideas like this to come into ur brain, better u know abt a country or society beore u make a comment.

Not when it comes to ABORTING a human life just because its a GIRL! I know one other Country who only allows ONE child per family.. If they have more than ONE they are classed as TRASH and pretty much shunned from Society.. I know alot of Countries that have the most STUPIDEST beliefs.. AND they try to bring it here to OUR Country!!! CRIKEY! theres not a chance in hell that'll ever happen.

India is peaceful, India is educated... well atleast most of the parts of India are educated. But there is a large rural population which is not that educated and do not realize the vices of Female feoticide.
But the government n the various NGO are taking care of the situation and educating people and slowly these activities are reducing but it will take some time before it is completely eliminated.

Well i dont know if u are an indian or not but yes whatever u said and whatever reasons u have given are true to quite an extent....
This practice prevailed earlier on a large scale but after the efforts or the government the gender of the baby cannot be tested and is illegal.
So it has reduced to quite an extent and the dowry factor prevails but it is nowadays limited to rural areas and also to people who are not very literate
But yes thanx for spreading that awareness and bringing up that topic so that i could tell you.yes it was a dreadful past but i guess modern india is gettting over it

this is a very brutal act.killing foestus just because expecting it to be a girl is a very offensive task.
i think people practicing this task should be punished.
the law and order should be very strict in regards to this matter.

Yes its true that girls are often discriminated against in India but problem is mainly due to lack of education and wide spread poverty. Its become a vicious circle now. To marry girls huge dowries are demanded and given which puts pressure on the girl child's parents. Even in citries this practice is prevalant hence the thought is that while a male child will bring the money home girl child will take it to someone's home. Additionally there is the question of carrying on the family business and land cultivation. hence male child is preffered by many.
Things will change in future I am hope ful because Indian gogvernment is taking frm steps to educate people and is making laws to control female infanticide. Recent addition to this is domestic voilence law that covers abuse against wman in all relationships, wives, daughter, sisters and even live in relationships. I think by right appraoch with education as well as stricter laws India will resolve this problem in coming years.

Pack of bloody murderers, that what they are.
Just for the pleasure of trying for a boy.
What a shame.
Just wait till they realize that they are wiping their own female generation.
And then they'll be saying, "Where have all the women gone?"
When will they ever learn.
What a shame to be female in a such a country, only to be murdered before you even make an entrance into this big bad world.
What a shame, and how shameful.
How does one live with such a gutless crime?

Hello mr. you know every country has it pros and cons this does not mean you raise a topic criticising that nation for a particular problem. If i start a topic by saying, are France people gone damn Mad..then how you feel. That's not a decent manner to put a topic. I am very sad to see such topic..I will report ABUSE!!!

i am from india and i must say this report is true.but not all of the people do this.its just the people in the villages who prefer male children as they believe that a son will work for the family while a daughter is just a burden.all this is due to the illiteracy and backwardness in the rural areas of india.all this backwardness is due to the fact that india is still struggling to overcome the effects of the british rule

Hi eicher...sad to say this is happening in India. Scanning to find whether the foetus is boy or girl and killing female foetus are illegal and there are legal provisions. But still many people are doing this illegally and female infanticide is a social evil. This is happening mostly among economically/socially/educationally back word people in India. Prevailing dowry system, atrocities against females and illiteracy are some of the major reasons behind this social problem.

I am an indian and the dowry practice was very popular in the earlier times. But now this practice is made illegal by passing act in the parliament.
But the people still practice this. Thats why a girl is not preferred. But now the thinking of people is changing. They oppose dowry.

This is a Public Health Problem in India.Lots of Advocacy and Legalisation is going on regarding this issue. We cannot blame women also directly as you must be knowing Women in India in some of the developing states are bound to follow the social issues. Social factors like Poverty, illiteracy , Attitude and Behaviour of People matter a lot.
