I find it hard to beleive that anyone with the proper resources is actually doing something about education reform which is needed. I never see any new schools being built, teachers getting any substantial pay raises, education promotion. Yet everyone expects so much from the education system. In my state last year 1 million dollars was given to support education which avearaged out to each teacher receiving $100 to buy classroom materials. The same state gave 92 million to the prison industry. This to me seems a bit unbalanced. If more money would be given to support education less money would be needed to build and maintain prisons.

The problem is simple politics. All reform efforts serve the needs of politicans and beaurcrats. To serve the inerests of teachers and students I have developed whayt I call a curriculum of unquestionable value and lasting relevance. Once I am familiar with this site I will post it.

The US is the only industrialized nation that doesn't federally, fully fund education. Too many states rely too heavily on local property tax. Lots of problems with that.
The Bush admin really believes NCLB bs is really going to help! LOL And until we can get some people to explain why it is so crappy, nothing will change. More testing will be instituted and schools will get worse.
In the first 50 days of school, I had 20 days of testing in my classroom. Between state and district tests, true education rarely happens.
