I have tried several dishes but I don't think I've come across Egyptian dish yet. Can you suggest something you think is out of the ordinary?

Artichoke fattah This is not a typical fattah dish . This dish is a mixture of artichokes with meat cubes and fried bread pieces. Cuisine : Egyptian Main ingredients : Artichokes, Meat cubes, Shamy bread Time of preparation : 20 Minutes Time of cooking : 50 Minutes Serving : 5 Ingredients @ 2 packs Artichoke @1/2 kg Veal, cubes (from leg or shin) @1 Onion, medium size @1 Bay Leaf @2-3 loaves Shamy Bread @Salt and Pepper @2 pieces Cardamom @2 tbsp Margarine,or oil @1/2 cup Lemon Juice Directions 1. Cut each artichoke heart into 2-3 pieces . Keep artichoke pieces in a bowl with water and 3-4 tbsp lemon juice. Cut Shamy bread into squares (2.5 x 2.5 cm) using scissors. 2. Fill ¾ medium deep pan with water . Add onion, cardamoms, bay leaf and little salt and pepper and bring to boil over medium-high heat. Add meat and boil until semi-tender (about 20 minutes). Occasionally skim off the foam layer that rises on surface. 3. Meanwhile, in a skillet, fry artichoke hearts in margarine or oil until just golden. 4. Add fried artichokes and remaining emon juice to meat in pan and cook for about 15 minutes or until meat becomes tender.Remove meat and artichokes from broth.Strain and reserve 2 cups of broth. 5. Put bread squares in a baking dish.Add broth and stir until bread absorbs the broth.Arrange meat and artichoke cubes over bread and serve immediately. Note: You can pan-fry meat cubes in oil or margarine until brown before boiling them If you get fresh artichokes, revise cooking basics section for cleaning and washing artichokes.
