what is it with this country it seems that we have to respect everyone elses religion but our own beliefs are lost.
a young girl has been in the papers because she chooses to wear a cross on a chain to school in representation of her faith but her school have decided to ban her from school till she stops wearing the cross.
in the uk we respect other peoples religion and no arab girl would be expected to go to a mainstream school and told to remove her berkha as we see this as her human right to have her beliefs respected i am not a religious person myself but i do believe that everyone in the uk should have the right to display their religion within reason this young girl only had a small cross around her neck she did not come to school handing out bibles to everyone and telling them they are all going to hell for not choosing the same path as her.
i have just about had enough of the way our country is run we waste good tax payers money year after year on building new parts in schools for all our new foreign students so they can be educated in a way they are accustomed to but as soon as they are faced with some one from this country displaying her belief they kick off and say that we are offending them.
what do you think do you agree or disagree with the way this has been dealt with.

Yes, she should be allowed to show symbols of her faith. We have freedom of religion in this country, which I respect people on the other side say it is freedom from religion. However, this does not mean that we can not display a symbol of our faith or even openly pray among yourself or a group of people. Schools have taken this issue way too far in America, as everyone is concerned with a lawsuit from the beautiful people of the ACLU, which has ruined American freedoms. I am sick of my religion not being allowed to be talked about at all. If you can teach the Big Bang THEORY, than you should also teacht the Creation THEORY. They are both only theorys, and no one knows which is true, so both should be taught and let the students think on their own, instead of forcing atheist beliefs on these little children. Our school system was much better when we had God in school. The removal of God from schools has been directly linked with a rise in violence, behavior problems, and school shootings. Morals need to be brought back into schools, so children of the future will not destroy each other with no regard for others.

i totally agree with you i was not saying that other religions cannot show their faith i was simply using this as an example most children in this country are now brought up with no beliefs and as you say turn to violence.
even though i myself choose not to believe i was sent to a roman catholic school as a child so i did have some guidence but as i grew i realised that i had other beliefs.
i have experianced first hand the effects of diffrent religions clashing as i was brought up in ireland when the battle of roman catholic and protestant was rife it was not a good time but i had my school to tell me that i had to be strong and my parents were of the same attitude it is only now as an adult i can see that life is too short and whatever anyones faith i have no hate for them i simply see past it and see the person

This reminds me of a thing my friend just put on facebook about her son. At school the teacher asked the class something like how the earth was made and the child said my mommy and god made it. I thought that was a very sweet response but the teacher told the child he isnt allowed to talk about god in school.
In my daughters school they stand up every morning and say the pledge which states "one nation UNDER GOD". If they ever tried to tell my child they couldnt speak about god I would say she can speak about god whenever she wants as long as they say the pledge at school.
I think as long as the teacher isnt sitting and preaching to the children that it should be ok if the students want to say something about their beliefs. If I was a teacher and I had students in my class who were of different religions I would celebrate all the different religious holidays with the whole class. I think it teachers kids tolerance to others beliefs.
