why is a piggy bank called so? why not a rabbit or mouse bank???

piggy banks - Most piggy banks are small enough to be held in the hand. 

However, very large piggy banks have been made, 

some as tall as three feet, often elaborately decorated 

in the form of various well-known cartoon pigs such as Porky Pig.
because in early times most people are known to keep their money at the kitchen jars. these kitchen jars are made from pyggs. a pygg is a type of clay used for making various household objects such as jars. this is the reason why the concept evolved, from pygg jars to piggy banks

The main reason why is called piggy banks because the pig has a huge stomach.

That's a good question, I never thought of it before. I guess pig is more suitable animal than the rest of them.
