Valentines Day means that I can spend the evening with my husband without the kids enjoy our time together. It means love and connecting as a couple. I don't care about the cards, the candy, the flowers. All I want is to spend the time with my husband.

I am actually quite curious to find out how Valentines Day came to be. Vaguely remember some Saint being involved. But in my opinoin in such a commercial world that we live in, Valentines Day has sort of become a commercial goldmine for opportunist and entrepreneurial business minds, e.g. selling roses, planning romantic dates and the like.

While Valentines Day is very commercialised, just as Christmas is, it doesn't mean we can't celebrate it in our own way - and what an opportunity to share with someone special - especially for a shy person!

Hi Gabs. I'm probably not the person to answer this one, but I can imagine you and your hubby really enjoying each other at that dinner. Have an extra hug on me.
Neither my husband nor I came from families that celebrated birthdays, let alone Valentines Day. The first ever birthday party I had was when the youth group gave me a surprise one for my 50th birthday.
We did make a bit of a fuss for birthdays for our own children, but my husband always thought they were unnecessary, so they were nothing great.
I haven't had a birthday or wedding anniversary gift from my husband in the 46 years we've been married, but that doesn't mean we don't share our love. We do. We have said, and I believe it is true, that every day is a birthday, or Valentines Day, if you wish.
So, we won't be celebrating Valentines Day, and probably won't even realise it is that day on the day, but you can rest assured, we will be celebrating our love, for we do that every day.

Sinec I am yet to find my lady love, so it is a day to try finding them, i am never sure who is that. As such, i keep greetings, and send the valentine day cards to few, and hopefully wait for the respond. When my search meet success then I shall have a day`s full company of my lady love, and that is all , I shall spend the day knowing her, since these days ,with such a busy schedule it is quite difficult to spare a single day for anything unless the day is earmarked

It's a money making holiday for Halmark and other companies. But, I like it anyway. The world is so full of evil and unhappiness, that this is a great special day to show your loved ones how much they mean to you. I like to make a heart shaped cake for my hubby, and we spend a lovely day and evening together. You are right, no money can ever buy that kind of a love relationship.

i think that everything is too expensive on Valentine's day...presents, restaurants, flowers...it's all about money, money and money...to me, it's a time to tell my loved ones...and my best friends that i love them and that i appreciate them for being there for me. i think the best would be to spend the day with my bf, doing nothing, but just be there with each other...

Personally I think Valentine's Day is over rated. No, I've never had a bad V-day but I just think we should spend every day showing the person we love, how much we love them. Why do we have one day a year that we have to go all out and buy things? I'd much rather be shown all year long and have presents just sporadically.
We do normally go out to eat but it may not be on Valentine's Day. We have kids now so sometimes going out on a date with my husband takes lots of planning.

For me, it doesn' t mean nothing.
You must show how do you love your partner every day, not only in one day.
I don' t believe in love, though :)
It' s just what I think ;)

Can't you give your love to your sweet heart without a valentine's day?It can be done without a valentine's day. You can spend your night with your sweet heart to heap cart loads of love without a Valentine's day. Yes, such occasions will give you a chance to show the love towards your sweet heart.

I believge that Valentines is for women. The fact that i love my wife should be shown regularly, not when the shops want to make money

Valentines day is just like any other day. But it is a day named after a saint, so if I have a chance to go to church, I will. It is a good day to just be happy and be thankful for the people you love and who love you!
You don't necessarily have to go out and spend bunches of money on chocolates, flowers, or dinner, but it would be nice, how about tomarrow!
Getting drunk? i don't think so!
Is it about presents? Not for me!
Is it about cards? A card would be nice just to say i love you, but a home-made card would be alot better!
I would just like to rent movies or PPV! Although an engagement ring would be nice!

We have never celebrated V day as it is for people who fancy someone and sends them an anonymous card.
It's just a money making spin.
We celebrate and give each other presents, notes and such all year round, not just for one day.
I know couples who have terrible relationships but on V day they go overboard-flowers, presents and dining out. Then spend the next 364 days arguing again lol.
I bet I sound like a killjoy, but I am a romantic who likes it all year round. Just greedy I suppose.

Valentine's Day means expressing love for everyone who is dear to me. Not just my lover, but my daughter, my friends, my family, even my pets. It is a day to celebrate the loves in our lives.

what it means to me is sharing the day with the person that u love very much and doing something for them that u might have not ever done before its not just doing the same thing every year and buying the same old things. no, to me its doing different things and spending time together showing each other how much u really care about them. its not about spending money on the best thing money can buy because u can't be love with money. its got to come from the heart. U can either make it or buy it but it does not have to be so exspensive. Just do what u think makes ur lover happy and cherish every moment u have with them because any given day, they can be taken away from u so u got to show them how much u really care about them. love them with all ur heart.
