Thanks Sandie. Be happy you don't do it like I do, as it is so hard to talk and write forward like everyone else.

Ha, ya didn't know me. I mirror everything. I work so hard to talk straight too. Hehhe. It helps me so much in my cuttings, as I can cut upside down, and backwards for the most detailed cuts. So this handicap is great for me.

Isn't that dyslexia? I've never had the problem, I can imagine it being hard to learn doing it forwards if you had that problem. I remember when my 2 oldest girls were younger, they'd write everything in a "mirror image". They outgrew it by the time they got 1/2 way through kindergarten. Not sure if that's normal for kids or not though.

Yes, it is dyslexia. It has taken years to do everything forward. But if I am stressed, I revert. I really need to never do it backwards, as it makes it harder to do it right. Other than my husband and a few close friends, nobody would ever guess it about me. I learned pretty good to do it as others, but it's still hard.

The one thing that I remember doing backwards was I wore a polo shirt backwards to work one time. LOL Boy, that was very embarrassing and only one student noticed it and told me before everyone else came in so I caught a break. LOL I will not forget that one. I also may write a list of things to do and will do them in the reverse order instead of following the order I had written down.

Thanks. That is kinda backwards too. But I read, write and talk that way. It has taken me years to be the same way everyone else is.

Yes, it is practice, as doing it forward is a lot of practice. But backwards come natural for me.

I read and write backwards. I also write backwards in cursive, not just reversing the order of the letters, but actually writing the letters backwards. I read upside down too. Usually I start with the last page of a magazine or newpaper and read to the front. It all comes quite easily to me and I don't consider it a problem.
I think it has something to do with being a left handed person in a right handed world.

So Margieanne, when you were taught to read as a child in school, was this an issue, was it noticed by your teachers, just how were you able to manage. I hope you don't mind the questions, but because I can only read in a forward fashion
and the learning structure is set up to teach children in the
forward fashion, how did you manage to learn how to read at
all...SS

It was hard to read forward. I tried and tried. I did manage, and was a straight A honor student all though school. But, did lisp until I was 12. But, unless I am tired or stressed out, I will do all reading, writing and talkng forward. It is easy to revert backwards. I just don't do it, as it is hard to do it forwards. One would not know how I am, as I have learned quite well with lots and lots of practice to do it correctly, as others.

I don't struggle with this but my husband is dyslexic and it is very difficult for him especially when there are numbers involved, he gets so frustrated and upset. Sometimes for me its just painful to be around him when he transposes figures and/or letters, because then he gets really critical of himself.
I admire both of you, how amazing you are to have the tenacity and perseverance to overcome such a handicap, I'm sure it takes plenty of hard work and effort to overcome. More power to you, keep overcoming and happy posting:)
