Take 1000 and Add 40 to it.
Now Add another 1000 and then add 30.
Add another 1000 Now add 20
Now Add another 1000 and add 10.
What Is The Total???.

What Is The Name of The Fifth Daughter?

1) If you over take the person running 2d, you are now 2d. The person running 1st is stil ahead of you.
2) If you over take the last person you must be running on a circular track and have "lapped" the last man. However, maybe someone else has already "lapped" him and is ahead of you. So, there is not enough information to say your position in the race.

5) Squint and blink his eyes as if the sun is too bright.

Please, could you explain how my "wrong" answers could be wrong? They may not be the answers you were looking for, but I still do not see that any of them are incorrect. Thank-you.

redyellowblackdog, open your eyes, clear your brain, and think. Reread the part about the man and his daughters. In plain sight the question says Mary's father has five daughters and names four of them. Hence, the fifth daughter's name must be Mary. Pretty simple, eh? You remind me of LB, my LAZY BUM husband. This simple question would have fooled him, too!
