We have one cat who lives mostly outside. He comes in to eat and take a nap, and then he's ready to go out again. Sometimes he would stay gone for a couple of days, and then he'd be back to come in for a rub, a meal and to sleep for awhile. We've been having some snow and really cold weather lately, so he's been staying in quite a bit. He'll talk to us when he's ready to go out. Well, this morning he wanted to go out. It was really funny. He only stayed out for maybe 2 minutes, but he was running around and pouncing in the snow and going back and forth on the side walk like they get when they are stir crazy in the house...you know...running back and forth up and down the length of the house...that used to drive me up the walls.. I haven't had a cat do that since they've all gotten so very old. It was funny to see.

I used to let my cat go outside but once we moved it was no longer safe for her. I can tell she misses it. Some days I know she is goig stir crazy because she drives me crazy! lol She wanders around the house as if she is looking for something and then wants me to pet her for the longest time. After I pet her she starts fighting with our other cat.

I have two male cats one was always an inside cat, He got fixed. So he has never tried to go out..But then we got another male cat that use to be outside, he hasn't gotten fixed yet and we made him an indoor cat.. He is annoying sometimes. Walking up and down through the house acting like he wants to get out.. He use to meow all the time cause he just didn't want to say in.. but he doesn't do that very much. He climbs in the windowseals trying to get out.. and he doesn't do it all the time.. he sleeps most of the time.. but he only does this at night. when he is wide a awake.. We let him out once and he got attacked by another cat, The other cat litteraly almost killed him so i said no more So now he is an indoor cat whether he wants to be or not.. I am hoping that when we get him fixed he will calm down and not want to go out anymore.. I guess we will have to see..

With the weather threatening to move in all week, I noticed this behaviour in the kids I work with, as well as with my cats. They have been feisty (the cats) poking and playing with one another. My neice says her tropical fish have been doing this way as well. On the other hand the goldfish all go to the bottom of the tank and face the northeast corner. Reminds me of cows in a storm. I think I am most like the goldfish.

I had a cat that would not stay indoors *laugh* I really wanted a house cat and a lap cat, and this cat was feisty and really didn't want much to do with people. He went outside and once he got a taste of the outdoors, he really didn't want to be inside much after that *laugh* So I know what you mean! ^_^

Our family cats are about to drive me crazy! We have 5, three females and two males (all are fixed). We no longer keep litter boxes because we live in the country and they are indoor/outdoor. However, every winter they prefer to stay inside (usually). Lately, they have been in/out all day when I am home. I live in Virginia and we've had an unusally mild winter, today the temps are supposed to rise to around 60. Because of the nice weather, the cats seem to be confused and want to go in and back out literally all day. I've also had one that has been peeing in our bathroom on the floor (and I don't know which one it is). I love my animals, but they really have been getting to me lately. It will be a long time before I take another animal in.

I have 5 cats and only one of them is like that. Henry only comes in to eat and maybe sleep for a couple of hours. As soon as he's awake he wants to go out. A while ago he came home with a bad cut on his leg - I took him to the Vets and he told me to try and keep him in for 3 weeks wnile the wound healed. He was unbearable!

Well considering I dont agree with letting a cat outside I keep mine in and they go nuts every now and then. Everything will be fine and then all of a sudden 1 orthe other(I have 2) will start acting like they got in to a bag of cat nip. I think it is totally funny because I have hard wood floors and it is a riot to watch there feet moving but they are not for a few seconds. When the both of them are going crazy you better watch out and be wearing shoes because you never know if they are going to jet past you and use your foot for traction.

I had a cat once named Cassady who may or may not have had feral origins (I found her crying on the side of the road when she was so young her eyes weren't fully opened. Anyway, she really went crazy every now and again . She'd howl at nothing and claw at nothing as though there were a ghost there than only she could see. Then she'd calm down in a wink as though nothing had happened. It used to freak just about everybody but Cassady was a very weird little cat in a lot of ways. I miss her.

I can just picture it; cat in snow and going "out side crazy" The image incites laughter. I have a cat also, used to have 4 but they got picked up by a mean neighbor. The one I have now is a inside cat. I live a apartment and have lg porch so that is his outside. When it rains he wants to go out there, but once he does he just runs around like a loon, trying to catch the rain. I even caught him with his mouth open and lapping at the rain, in mid air. Funny sight, wish I could have taken a pic, but I was not fast enough.

Absolutely, except we dont let ours go outside at all. He runs all over the house like he is chasing something, and is so funny to watch. Sometimes its more entertaining than the TV.

Has your cat been neutered? Cats usually calm down after they are neutered. Male cats stay away because they are out mating.

That's too bad. All we can do when that happens is think that someone who really loves cats must have given them a home!

how funny! My cat will do the same thing in the snow...he attacks it everywhere!..I remember when we had at the very least 18 inches of snow. He would go out, jump in, and completely disappear! Then he'd pounce up, jump down again, over and over and he was about 10 at the time! He will also go crazy if there's a lot of leaves on the ground and the wind is blowing..let one of those leaves come alive and move, and he's trying to kill it!...they are so wonderfully funny to watch!

I don't have a cat now but I remember those days. Cats seem to be very independent creatures, they do only what they want to do when they want to do it and nothing more...SS

One of our cats will get all riled up if he can't go outside. This also happens if he gets particularly hungry and will chase anyway back and forth across the house. If he's kept in for too long, our other kitty suffers. The two have never gotten along well and he takes his frustration out on her, lying in wait and then chasing her into a corner where she yowls up a storm, calling us in to toss him outside. Which is exactly what he wants. -_- Other other cat will sometimes go a bit crazy and make a great deal of noise running around upstairs; much more than you'd think an 8 1/2 lb cat could just by running!

We don't have cats now, but when I was at my mom's, she had two cats, not only did they run the length of the house, but they ran up and down the stairs also...SS
