I prefer reading non fiction books such as history or autobiographies. Some people have lead such amazing lives and have such inspirational tales to tell. When I read fiction I like the mystery and crime genre.

I love to read a variety of different types of books; everything from inspirational to history. My favorite genre is historical fiction/historical romance. I don't like the cheesy ones though, only the ones that have real and accurate historical events and people woven into the storyline of the books characters. I have always been facinated with history and the way people lived, especially during medieval times, the civil war of the United States, and the old west. There is just something about these types of books that fuels my thirst for knowledge.

Kathy, My first and most popular recommendation is The Poinsonwood Bible. It is written by Barbara Kingsolver. The book is about a Babtist Minister who takes his family to South Africa on missionary work. It is very unusually written, for each chapter is told through the eyes of either the mother, or one of the daughters. It is indeed a treasure of a book. I usually do "quick reads"; but when I started this book, I knew that I was going to take it slowly, sometimes going back and re-reading a chapter before going on to the next. On the morning of the final chapter, I fixed myself a cup of coffee and sat at the kitchen table with it. One of my daughters still lived at home and was in her room sort of close to the kitchen. She awakened to the sound of me crying and actually sobbing. When I finally composed myself enough to blow the snot out of my nose and wipe my face, I was able to tell her it was not that the book had a sad ending - it has the right ending. But.....my tears were shed because I had spent so much time (and in their time, so many years) with this family, that now they were gone and were out of my life. I stil grieve for them from time to time but have not picked the book up and re-read it again. ~donna

I love the Bible because of what it stands for, though I admit that reading it is boring. I love works of Fantasy, as well as action books like those that Tom Clancey writes. I am also a history buff of sorts, But as far as fiction goes fantasy such as Lord of the Rings and Forgotten Realms is what I love to read and write.

I read a variety of books. I can sink my teeth into ancient history, especially that of Egypt and Scotland. Spookies are also a favorite of mine, something that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I also have a lot of books on alternative healing. I will read almost anything, within reason of course.

I have found that I enjoy reading fantasy books, like Lord of the Rings and Eragon. I'm not really sure why, but they are just really entertaining to me! :)
