We all have the same amount of time, but how come some people seem to do so much more with their allotted hours on this planet than others? Would you like to improve your time management and organisational skills? After much trial and error, I have found things that really work for me and am willing to share my ideas with you friends on MyLot. Just tell me a wee bit about yourself and your current lifestyle and what you'd like to change about how you use your time and I'll reply with good (I promise) advice, based on my own experience.

I'll take you up on that. But first let me welcome you to myLot. First of all, I am a stay at home wife and freelance writer. My hubby works from 11:30 am until 9:30 or later pm. I am responsible for all the house and yard work, as well as needing to fit in exercise. I don't drive, so I am home almost all the time. I belong to two online writing groups. I love to do myLot in my spare time and read. I also do a couple of other online programs, that are similar to myLot, but I don't put in the time on those that I do here. I am working on a novel, that I need to submit by the end of March. I also write freelance articles for two online sites. I never have time to get everything done it seems. The housework suffers the most. Our house isn't big, but it gets very dusty and never seems to stay clean. I have known for some time that I need an actual schedule to manage my time with, but feel so overwhelmed and behind, that I can't figure out how to do one. You help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a stay at home Mum and writer too, so I know it can be hard to organise things! Well, one thing I've found helpful is breaking each day into three (morning, afternoon, evening). Then schedule the high energy/ brain power things for when you're at your best and lower energy or relaxation stuff for when you're tired. I'm in a similar situation to you housework-wise and find I make one day a week (Monday) housework focused. I do all the luxing, change the beds and do the washing on Mondays. Then I try not to do that stuff any other days, even if the place gets a bit messy, because otherwise I know I won't get onto anything else. If you have enough money (we don't right now) you could pay someone to do it. How old are your children? Depending on their ages they could help and be part of a schedule too. Hope this is helpful and not too waffly, ask if you have any more questions.
