I have a 15 month old little girl & she still has a bottle. I've been trying to get her to take a sippy cup since she was 10 months old, but she won't. She drinks water & juice out of sippy cup, but not milk. I've tried the steps in the books & maybe I'm just not being consistent enough, but it hasn't worked. Does anyone have any ideas or little tricks? Thanks--

My son would never drink out of a conventional sippy cup either. But as soon as we tried the ones with the straws, he loved them. I think it was because he saw us drink out of straws. Anyway, they have cups in the baby department of like Walmart or where ever you shop probably, that are sippy cups with straws. The straws have valves so they don't make a mess when they knock it off their tray or throw it or whatever else they want to do with it.
If you haven't tried that, I would suggest it. My son tried one between 7 and 8 months, and was immediately off the bottle, by his own choice.

-O- my little girl loves those cups. She drinks juice and water out of them too but I never thought to put milk in them. I guess for some reason I felt like she should use a reg. sippy cup.. but I know that she loves those so I'm going to put her milk in those. Thanks again.. you opened my eyes to the definate obvious.

Here is how I got my daughter to drink from a sippy cup and not her bottle. I would not put milk in her bottle anymore, only water (which my daughter didn't like to drink). So everytime she asked for her "baba" she would get water. When she asked for juice or milk, I would give her a sippy cup. She gave up her "baba" once she realized she was only getting the good stuff in the sippy cup.

hi, ive been teaching my baby to drink out of a sippy cup but she just throws it around and whatever is inside it comes out, she still drinks everything out of her bottle and she reuses to let it go, ive even tried a actual plastic beaker with no lid/cap on, she will drink out of that but then that goes everywhere too, ive got to get her into the habit of drinking out of them sippy cups but she's so demanding, lol maybe one day i will be succesful!

Since I never used bottles I can't attest to this personally, but I have heard of people having success with it. Start mixing her milk with water in her bottle, and offer it to her not watered down in the sippy cup. Gradually make it more and more water in the bottle until she's drinking the milk out of the sippy.

I tried every sippy on the market (expensive by the way) and my son would only take a Nuby cup, it's a soft spout, it's like a bottle on the top but instead of a nipple, it's shaped like a sippy spout. He was on those until he was about 16 months, then he saw his cousin drinking out of a playtex one, then he had to be like him so now he's on the regular sippies.
