What do I mean? Well, this city, San Diego, tends to turn around after a hard playoff loss and go "Well, you know, we had a great season, so let's celebrate what we did and the season we had". The attitude stems from when San Diego was loveable-loserville, when our teams sucked year in and year out, and when we would be lucky to make the playoffs once in a decade.
There's just one problem with that though: we are NOT loveable-loserland anymore. The Padres and Chargers have been playoff contenders for three straight years, and have each made the playoffs 2 out of the last 3 years. It's not a once-every-fifteen-years thing anymore. This city is slow on the uptake though. It's time for San Diego fans to get with it. Our teams are making the playoffs regularly now. It's time to start expecting more. It's time to win in the playoffs, too. It's time to expect us to advance, to eventually get to the championship game/series, and to WIN it.
Come on, San Diego. Put the pressure on your teams. I know I am.

For once, I don't think the Chargers played Marty-ball yesterday. They were just beaten by the better team and QB (Brady is just lights out in the playoffs). I think the Chargers are still a year or 2 away. As a Steelers fan, we kinda went through the same thing when Big Ben stepped in..great rookie season, but was found lacking in the playoffs. You guys have a great QB, and a great RB...a little upgrade in the WR and it'll be unbeatable time. I'd be prepared to be patien for a couple more seasons, but would like to know our feelings on Schottenheimer (stay or go)

Charger fans have nothing to complain about. Try being a Lion fan. Were are 24-72 over last 6 years. If you can endure that, you are a true fan. I'm at the point of...who cares anymore.
I was expecting a Bears(my newly adopted team)/Chargers Super Bowl. I though SD would take it all. I am not a baseball fan anymore. Then what happens, the Tigers go the the World Series. One of your teams will make it. Maybe both in the next few years.
Maybe I could interest you in a hockey team to tide you over...lol

I am not sorry they lost look who their coach is. The KC Chiefs went through the same thing when he was their coach. His record speaks loudly. A lot of sour grapes comming out of SanDiago yesterday and today. They need to learn to play the game on the field and not with their mouths. If they would have kept Breez they would be playing for the championship but instead he will be playing in the Super Bowl and SD will will still be crying

Oh, please. We were 9-7 with Brees last year with almost the same team, aside from a few players gained and lost. The loss sucked, but it was NOT Marty's fault. He made a few dumb calls, like the second challenge flag, but it was McNeill who's mostly responsible for blowing it. Come back when you learn anything about football.

hassan..why are you so defensive? I wish they would have beat the Pats too. I always root for anyone playing against NE. You don't have to be so upset that someone posted an opinion. At least they are responding.

Sorry about SD losing. I was rooting for them. I heard on a local sports show last night that we (Miami Dolphins) might be going after Schottenheimer if he's fired by SD. If not, maybe his son from the NY Jets. They're both on our short list to replace Saban as Coach. It was mentioned that Dad as Coach and his son as Assistant Coach would be the best choice. We'd have a Coach for years that way.
I can understand about expecting your team to do better since they're making the playoffs. I just wish ours would do that again. ;)
I'm glad you told the guy up above to not tell you what subject to post about. It's your choice, not his or anyone else's. His choice should have been NOT to post at all. That's what I do when I know nothing about a particular subject.

I'd love to have Griese, Marino or Czonka or anyone who used to be a Dolphin as Coach, but they're evidently going after someone who's a Coach already. I can't remember who wore a hearing aid.

We feel the same way here in Philly land. Our teams were bad for a while but as for the Eagles we have been in the playoffs a lot in the last 6 years, except for last year. We expect more from our team than just making the playoffs. We expect and want to win a Superbowl. We are starving for a title here whether football, baseball, basketball or hockey. That is good that you want and expect more from your team. Your fans should want more as well and not settle for just making the playoffs. You have very good teams there.

I'll admit I was sad to see the chargers lose but not because I'm a fan. I extremely hate the patriots ever since they make up a rule on the spot to beat my beloved raiders, that f-in' Tuck rule! I f-in HATE the patriots and though I don't love the chargers I sure the heck with they would have beat the pats like they did in regular season lol

perugu...may I suggest that you tell your Indian friends to do the same. I would venture a guess that perhaps 95& of myLoters know absolutely nothing about Indian music, Indian movie stars and the like but there are a lot of discussions on those topics. Most of us who fit in that category do not answer those discussions but we do not request any of them to post discussions that the majority is cognizant of or interested in.
Sorry, doubleB but to quote Flip Wilson...."the devil made me do it".

The difference is that in India it is mostly cricket which I no knowing about it. But it seems that the more they post the fewer responses they get. But that's another story. We all have our personal interests and are free to post what we are individually interested in. He is right that it would be nice to put the emphasis on world affairs but one man's meat is another man's poison. We just have to overlook those we don't care to post on and live in peace by not griping or making requests about the postings. It you don't know anything about it dont answer. period.

It was a tough loss for San Diego, yesterday. My husband, has been a huge Charger Fan for over 25 years..he knows..the ups and downs the team went through..finally,they have a great football team...a complete team,if you ask me..the best RB in the NFL,offense is on the top..their defense is outstanding...the Chargers have great talent and will be going to the Playoffs many times in the near future...
About Marty..well,I can only say,I been there..I am a Kansas City Chiefs fan (yes,my hubby,is a die-hard Charger Fan,and I am a die-hard Chiefs Fan...how can it work..it works great..we respect each others team a lot, even tho,we don't show love, since we are in the same divison, but there is no hate...like with the Raiders or Broncos).Anyways,as a Chiefs Fan,I know the feeling loosing in the playoffs with Marty as a coach...it seems like,he has a curse..I dont know...he never had a great team in KC,like he has here in SD...I hope, they can fix the problem...The Chargers deserve a superbowl.

It might have been the curse of Marty, always the bridesmaid never the bride. It might have been the inaugaral season of Phillip Rivers. It might have been the curse of playing the Patriots. It might have been the moon phase was incorrect.
I can't make excuses for a team that has done so well all season. I am a Steeler fan first and foremost. I am also an NFL fan. I can't say enough about L.T. and Shawn Merriman. Antonio Gates is maybe the best tightend in football(always my first fantasy choice as well as L.T.)
Marty is on the bubble as far as being fired(I ain't sure why). Would a new coach be the answer? Growing up in Steeler country I have seen many "super teams" that actually can't win the big games. I hope that maybe next year the AFC championship comes down to the Steelers and Chargers. I might not actually care who wins.

Tough loss. I was pulling for SD partly because I'm tired of seeing NE getting to the Super Bowl nearly every year!
Do you think Schottenheimer's job is in danger because of this? I always liked him from his previous teams, don't know if you can blame the loss on him. But like you say, after losing a game you're 'supposed' to win, everyone's got their knives out and pointing fingers...

Sorry to hear that the Chargers won. I was really pulling for them to win. I figured with the year that LT had it would be a nice feather in his cap if he could win the big game too.
I am sure that nexk year they will be back, but if you do light a fire under them then perhaps they can get over this hurdle and go on to win the big game.
Good luck.

I hate the Patriots! They beat my Steelers the year prior to them winning the Super Bowl. I always like Ladamian Tomlinson and then he gets the opportunity to be in a Super Bowl and make himself a LEGEND, the Patriots come and F it up! The Patriots ONLY win Super Bowls and that's for 1 reason and 1 reason only. What do the Patriots and the Washington Redskins of the old days have in common? The answer is the reason why they win Super Bowls. The answer is their Offensive line is huge, just like "The Hogs". That's the only reason why Tom Brady has all that damn time in the pocket. Those jokers are fat and huge. My Steelers had a hard time rushing Tom Brady that year. I noticed the size difference the moment they stepped on the field 2 years ago. If that line goes away so does Brady's performance.LOL Yeah, it's just a matter of time buddy!

Speaking as a North Carolina native I only have one thing to say: be happy that your team made it to the playoffs at least. Everybody was banking on my team being Super Bowl bound, and they just ended the season with a 500 record and not making it to the post season.
With that said,Charger fans have allot to be proud of, but the thing is your defense fell asleep in the second half. Add to that Belichick's god tier post season record, and the fact that Tom Brady is always good it could have gone either way really.

oh my freakin god! what a game!.. i must tell you upfront that living in NH im a diehard pats fan.. BUT i gotta say .. honestly.. both teams played pretty crappy on sunday.. but itstill made for a hell of a game. SOOOO many penalties.. .havent seen the "uneccesary roughness" and "facemasking" along with personal fouls like that ina playoff game in what seems to be a REALLY long time.. i jumped off the couch so many times!! lol.. was too funny .. and i think ultimately we ended up getting a couple of crazy calls in our favor to be honest with ya.. but both teams bobbled a bit.. was one of the best games though ive seen in a while.. still cant believe they missed that fg at the end to try to go into over time.. but i guess they were pretty far back.. so im sorry to write this whole thing, being as im speaking as a fan from the opposing team.. but MAN what a great game!..

My old roomate said almost the same thing! He grew up in the area, and is sick of people saying well atleast it was a good season, he was expecting a Super Bowl appearance!
I'm a Raider fan, and we've been good for a long time as a matter of fact this is the first time we've ever had three straight losing seasons! Funny thing is when we made it to the Super Bowl, it meant nothing to me because we didn't win, isn't that all that should matter when you root for your team!?! Winning!
Anyways, I hate the Pats, the tuck rule still haunts me in my nightmares! The Raiders should've been in the super bowl two years in a row! I gess San Diego needs to have a little more success to make them believe it will last!
Do you think Marty is gone? I think it's crazy if they fire him, but he does terrible in the playoffs!

Like I already told somebody else, this was NOT Marty's fault. The two main reasons the Pats won were Marcus McNeill's fumbled interception, and Eric Parker mishandling a punt return. If those two had gotten it right, we'd be sitting pretty, preparing for Indianapolis to come to town. If they fire Marty for this, they're retards.

It really upset me when I heard that the field had to have repairs made to it shortly before the big game. The local high schools used the stadium for THEIR playoff games and there were five games played on that field in one day alone! That's not good. If our team is used to their home field feeling one way, and then suddenly it's a different field, that's a big handicap and I know it affected them because I witnessed a lot of slip and falls or missteps during the game.

Nobody should blame the Chargers. They had
an awesome season and should have won at
least the game against the Pattsies.
I'll let you in on a secret. Why do think
the Chargers played so poorly had a few bad
calls against them and had some really bad
mishaps. It's not playoff jitters.
The Pattsies have black magic on their side.
Don't believe me. Consider how they've won
many of their playoff games. Teams strangely
performing badly who have been consistantly
good all season. What I mean by that is these
teams beat themselves, the Pattsies don't beat
them.
Look back at a some of their playoff games for
last 5 years and see for yourself. If the Colts
lose Sunday watch and see if I'm right. The
Pattsies won't beat them. They Colts and the
strange occurances will beat themselves.
