It happend recently in US. A twenty-eight year old woman died after participating in a radio station water drinking contest. She found dead at her home just after coming back from that contest. According to Wikipedia, this is called water intoxication, also known as hyperhydration or water poisoning. This is a potentially fatal disturbance in brain function that results when the noramal balance of eletrolytes in the body is pushed outside of safe limits by a very rapid intake of water. Do you heard about it warlier? Don't you think this type of bad contest should be stopped immediately which can be a cause of death and the organiser should be punished for that!

this is really strange incident but this can happen as you said if you drink water over the prescribed limits.its also depends upon the quality of water consumed.most of us in our life one or more times consumed excess water and at that time we feel a bit ill.i think same happens to her.may god bless her soul.

wow, haha. I had no idea such thing existed. I remember chugging liter bottles of water. eeek. Well, i guess it should be stopped, because it seems somewhat dangerous, but on the other hand, isnt this water intoxication rare? Thanks for sharing.

I heard about this. I didn't know that could happen. I heard they may bring charges up against the organizers. She apparently complained to them that she didn't feel well and they pretty much just laughed at her. They're claiming that she signed a waiver so they shouldn't be held responsible.
