Clean? No. Tidy? Yes. My kitchen is tidy, dishes put away, sink empty, dishwasher running. My living room is tidy, but it could use vacuuming. Then again, I live in a 1500 sq. ft. apt so I don't have as much space to clean as most people.
The mess does seem to double while I'm gone during the day, which could be because my husband goes to school during the day and works at night so he makes little messes during the day.

I know how you feel. I clean and clean. By the time I get done cleaning, it looks like I never cleaned in the first place. So then I have to turn around and reclean. It's like that movie Groundhog day. I'm doing the same thing every day after every day. With a dog that sheds 24/7, I'm cleaning even more than I should. Upstairs is somewhat easy, that's the kids bedrooms. I have to only clean the youngest, because she's to young to clean her room fully. Bathrooms are easy as well. Only time they are used is for the obvious reasons. Kitchen is normally clean when my husband works, since he does most of the cooking. Not many dishes to wash when he works except for what the kids and I mess up when we eat left overs. I wish there were better tips at keeping a house clean when your the only one that's actually trying to keep it clean.

I gave up cleaning. I have an large upstairs that I actually cleaned today. I haven't cleaned up there in weeks. I am a neat freak too. I have a dog who I wish I could shave and 3 cats. All I do is vaccum. Plus I live on a main road where there is a ton of dusting. So I don't dust anymore. Why bother, one day clean, next day not.

Fairly clean - I'm a guy in a 3 bedroom house in town - near a motorway. I keep the windows closed most of the time - the dust that comes in if you open them! I don't make a mess - apart from my desk top - and a pile of papers waiting to be shredded... Dirt doesn't kill people - microbes can. I use bleach and disinfectant and medicated soap. My niece cleaned when her kids were on half term holiday - it'll get cleaned again at Easter! Shame she brings the kids...... She only does it for a break from them - I get the kids - while she cleans....

Ahhh!!! Tell me about it!! I have the same problem. It is hard to keep a house clean that people actually live in. You live in your house, therefore, it will never be spotless. I try to tell myself that all the time, but I always seem to stress over house cleaning.

Yeah i make it to a point that i do the cleaning everyweekend. There are only 3 of us friends who are in the house we shared. And we take turns cleaning or just help one another withthe chores. We end up with a neat house :)

I think when you have kids at home it is next to impossible to keep it all straight at the same time. My youngest two are 19 so things are looking up around here. I also work full time outside of the home so I'm always busy trying to keep it all together here. Join the crowd!

I just tell people I have a kid house. And I should clarify - our house is not dirty, it is just a bit of a mess. We go from room to room on occasion and I am as guilty as anyone of leaving things about now and then, but hey, we all pitch in when we need to.
My sister is a lot better than I am. She only has one child, but I bet she could do it with 3. She tells me at times she has to clean up while I am standing in a house that looks like June Cleaver's. I ask her, "Who's house?"
I feel for you and assure you, you are not alone!

Aw, I'm sorry! I understand about it being a neverending job. My family.. well, me and one other family member are pack rats. We have a hard time getting rid of things. So our house is pretty much a mess in certain areas. i know that I don't do a great job of keeping my personal bedroom that clean. I guess that I'm rather lazy, lol *laugh* But I wouldn't call our hous a pigsty. We really do spring cleaning and things like that, and try to keep up appearances! ^_~

The majority of my house is usually clean. I do have 2 teenagers, you know how that goes. If I can actually enter my daughter's room and walk all the way to the bed (about 3 steps), I consider that to be remarkably clean. My son is better about it, but he has messy times, too. I'm fortunate that hubby is a neat-freak. He really helps by picking up the slack when I'm tired or not feeling well.

lol, my situation is not that different from yours. Except I refuse to allow my hubby to get another dog. LOL And I can honestly tell you it is the same thing here. No matter how long I spend cleaning house it is a wreck in an hour. My three kids, no matter how much I stay on them, will not clean up after themselves. Trust me you are not the only one on this boat. Just wish sometimes I had a life jacket.

I clean everything once a week. The rest of the week I just maintain trash and dishes. Life is too short spending it being obsessed with having a sparkling clean house that resembles a museum. I have 2 large dogs, a sloppy man, and a preteen. I enjoy all of them more by not obsessing over the house looking like a model home. If it's lived in, then it is comfortable to me.
I can't enjoy going to my dad's house because his wife (we call her bonus mom) is obsessed with a sparkling clean floor and house. She runs the vaccum cleaner at least 2 x's a day, cleans the kitchen so much we never see her. I am afraid to move around in her house because I might mess up something. I hate visiting there, it is so uncomfortable.

Not as clean as I'd like it that is for sure. With 3 adults, 1 kid and way too many animals it's hard to keep it clean. I don't really want a spotless house but I do try to keep after the worst of it. It might be more cluttered then I like but I can live with that. It seems though as soon as you get one spot done and move to the next you have to restart again. Usually when I do clean it's when no one is home or up, that way they can't remess it up right away.

I also have two adults, three children, one dog and one cat. My house seems to stay clean except for the kids' room. Somehow I can never get those rooms clean. As soon as it is done, they seem to have it destroyed. I have just pretty much given up on the idea of them having clean rooms. The rest of the house though they all know that the better do their part to help keep it clean, if not mom will blow her cork.

I've tried...my ex is a packrat (from his mother) and unfortunately my daughter is the same way. As my father is remodeling my home room by room, I want to keep it neat but it just doesn't happen. I can get it clean but b/c she doesn't, it's filthy by the time I get there again and I mean FILTHY! Makes me ill to think about it!

I try and keep my place clean. It's hard. My mother is so messy, so I have to continously go behind her and clean everything up and that's tiring. My dorm room however is pretty clean, and I like to keep it that way.
