Yes, global warming is a big issue which effects everyone of us, the icecaps are melting and it has caused a tremendous change in our weathers, our winters, especially in the UK are getting much more warmer, this in turn is not killing of the germs that cold hard winters did in the past. Flooding is increasing at an alarming rate, and unfortunately things will get worse, much worse. The government are instigating plans to slow down global warming, but it's too little too late. It will cripple the environment and the food chain and it will have knock on affects for everyone wherever they are around the globe. It is a worrying thought of what legacy we are leaving behind for our grandchildren and their children.

You are right, our winters here are getting warmer and the summers are getting hotter. It's really a bit frightful.
We have seen 2 ground rattlers here in the last two months and you normally don't see any snakes in the winter here.
Thanks for your reply.

I hear you about the germs. Since we moved to Virginia Beach four years ago, I have been sick almost the whole time. It's one of the worst places for someone with allergies to live, which we didn't know until we got transferred here. It doesn't get cold enough to kill off the allergens and such, so it can get really bad. I almost never got sick until we moved here. In four years I've been put on Zyrtec and Singular, as well as an inhaler and a nebulizer (sp?). I've also had pnuemonia twice, the second time being this past May. It was bad enough that I ended up in the ICU. :( We need to move, but due to other reasons, the military won't move us as long as my husband is active duty. :(

I'm having a really hard time believing in global warming. I live in Winnipeg up in Canada and I haven't found our weather to be any warmer than the last 49 years of my life. It is cold here all winter long. It gets to 40 below for weeks on end. So where is the warmer weather that global warming is supposed to cause. It sure ain't here in winterpeg, our nickname.

It's drastically warmer here, Chris. You may not be getting the effects nearly as hard because your used the cold, and its still cold. Just because its not warm doesn't mean its not warming. The temperature has not warmed up enough for it to create a MAJOR impact. If you normally experience negative 40 degree temperature, it's not going to become sunny and carribean-esque. Not to mention, that just because you can't see the effects first hand, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Take a look at some articles and discussions about the effects elsewhere. Theres a lot of other places that have had very unusual weather recently, which is almost impossible to explain. Additionally, take a look at the articles about the near extinction of polar bears, the melting of glaciers, and the increased rates of natural disasters. Perhaps that will help you to believe.

I believe in it, but to be honest I don't think there's much we can do about it. I mean, the weathers different, things are a little screwy, but oh well. I don't believe that me alone stopping driving will stop it, and I know that everyone in the world isn't going to stop. So while I try not to drive unnecessarily, or use energy I don't need, I really don't believe I'm doing much to help since so many in the world are energy wasters.

That's true, one can't and won't make a big difference. We would need a nationwide ban on large vehicles in the United States to make a difference there.
I do think banning open fires and burning is a good first step. We have that law here but idiots are always burning trash and/or leaves in their backyards here. It drives me crazy and also stops up my nose. Uggg!

I do, but sometimes I wonder what is really causing it. I am sure humans are to blame for most of it, but what reasons haven't we found yet? Or who says that the "experts" are right in what they say is doing the damage? I also wonder what we can do to help reverse the damage that we've already done. :(

I really doubt that we can reverse the damage we have already done at this point. It seems like we would be getting some good suggestions if the government would get serious about this. Some say it is related to sea level rise and if this is so, I don't see how we as humans can stop it or control it. We need to take some measures to learn how to combat it as much as possible though.

I do believe we affect the way the Earth works, but I'm not 100% that it's a good or bad thing. Well, obviously it's not a great thing if it is causing damage to the Earth, but at the same time Earth has gone through 100s of changes during it's lifetime according to history and maybe the warming is just another one. I still got 7" of snow last night so it's not warm over here :)

I believe in it because, as other respondents have put forth, the evidence for it over whelming. Increasing ocean levels, climate and weather changes, ice caps melting etc. We need to do something, and soon. Here in the states even this winter we've lost many lives to violent weather.

I believe it. Now it is winter, however, it is still very warm here. It is quite different than before. This year I even don't have to put on my big coat.

YES! i blieve in global warming. don't you feel it. i read many articles in global warming. why do you think natrual calamities are fast occuring nowadays? it's not normal. why do do you think icebergs are melting where in fact they should not be. why are glaciers starting to melt? all these phenomenoms are caused by global warming. we don't just feel it directly but it is already happening eversince. that is why we have to act now to prevent the worst that will come in the future.

Global Warming is a "theory" that has been supported by many facts. The longer we deny the reality of this daily worsening disaster, the worse it's going to be in the long run.
