A good name is better than riches. That's why i value my reputation but not everyone does the same thing. A reputation is something that cannot be bought or sold. We earn it by our actions, by how we speak, how we dress, by our attitudes. A good reputation is not easily acquired. It may take as years or decades to builda good reputation. But a good reputation built for years can be ruined in just a minute.
It's hard to maintain a good reputation when bad things are just so tempting. But i don't believe in resorting to ruining your reputation to earn a living or to make it up to this demanding world. Oftentimes people do wrong things and thus damage their reputation, and they all have common things to blame: their poverty, their being less fortunate, their lack of this or that. They justify a worng by the end they are trying to achieve. There are more people less fortunate than you are right now. Go to third world countries and you will find the people am talking about. And yet these people manage it out living with a good reputation to be proud of. Now, do i have to say, "If they can, why can't you"? Nothing justifies a wrong, not even the end you hope to achieve. A wrong is a wrong. A sin is a sin.
I am not self-righteous. My reputation is not perfectly good, but am trying y very best to improve my reputation and not stain it anymore. It's a tough battle but i want people to think of the good things when they hear my name. I want people to be proud of who i am and not of what i have. When i die, it's how i live my life that matters.

i completely agree with you.
in my case, i had a crisis of keeping my good reputation.
but fortunately i just don't care.
don't care about how others see me.
i just do what i think is right to do.
maybe this will attract less people.. but those people that have been fascinated by you will have more in common with you.
little amount of people that makes you life rather than survive, struggling for taking care of A NAME.
honestly,
i prefer my new way to follow the current.

it's good to know we share the same views. sometimes we think more of what other people will say than what our conscience actually tells us or what are belief is trying to teach us,or what GOD is telling to us. if we don't change now and value the good things that make good people different from the bad ones, tomorrow might be too late for us.

I agree with you, your good reputation is something one should never give up it is worth more than money can pay. And it is something that you do take with you.

Ok, but look that your reputation is already 8 out of 10.
Do you think you made 20 bad answers from 100 here in MyLot ?
I think there were 20 mad users that didnt agreed with your answers, not that you are a mad user too.
What do you think about that ?

well am not talking about reputation in mylot alone. well i dont think i made bad answers in mylot but i made bad discussions before during my few days in mylot. i was following what other members were posting in the hope that mylot is all about making posts regardless of substance so long you get plenty of responses. now ive learned and i wish to improve my 8star rating in mylot.

My boys always said "oh mom you worry too much". I would still stand my ground and tell them not to give us a bad name. We are in a small farming community and your name and your word mean alot. It may be old fashioned, but that is the way it is.
I did not want someone to mention our name and say "oh them"

i agree a good reputation is more valueable to me as well but i see others enjoying life soo much more and not caring so much of what others think of them and it makes me wonder would i be happier just not caring what others think would i value that good reputation if i didnt care what others thought of me
