i think its pretty darn sad that a friend of mine will wake her hubby (as he can sleep almost 2 hours later than her to be up for work) from a dead sleep in the morning ONLY to make him go outside and shovel!.. i mean she says she shouldnt have to becuase she's a woman!!!.. OMG.i mean.. i shovel us out just as often as my man does!... he tries to be proactive in the evenin sometimes and shovels a bit so its not SO much in the morning, but i do my fair share as well.. why is it so many woman dont shovel?? i KNOW its not that theyre incapable.. is it laziness?? and im not talking about if your a single woman, and have no choice.. but i sometimes jsut do it FOR my hubby cuz he's gotta go out to work and i dont.. when i was younger i used to shovel it for my mom cuz she worked at night and needed to be able to pull in the driveway in th emornin and my dad plowed snow for the state so he'd be gone WELL before it started building up.,. and as the oldest of 3 well it just kinda left me to do it.. but i didnt really mind too much and my mom was always thankful and rewarding..what do you think?? ALL opinions welcome..

We hire someone to come plow our driveway (1/4 mile steep driveway) but as for the walk way, my husband does it. He's old fashioned, doesn't think I need to do that kind of stuff (yet he cooks and cleans lol) but I think he really just likes to go play in the snow... he also puts gas in my car because he likes to drive it *grin* I think he has an alterior motive for all things he does for me...

I can just imagine Shreks face if I woke him up for something like that, it'd have to be 8 feet deep before he reconised that I'm a girl and can't do it. lol. He doesn't allow me some of his power tools because Im not to be trusted apparently but other than that pretty much expects me to be able to do things myself - I used to live alone so I had to. Why would I relie on him to do it? He would not be a happy bunny at all. it's nice if he tells her she's not to do it, but really acting helpless is a bit tacky. Luckily we don't get uch snow in England

In my home, whoever needs to go out that day does it. Sometimes its me, others its my husband. The snow has to be shoveled, so on the days neither of us need to go out, we make a compromise.

I used to shovel my own snow but had a massive heart attack that left me kinda useless in the labor area. I watched my wife shovel and couldn't stand that. I even felt my neighbours thought I was probably some mean guy too lazy to shovel so I hired someone to do it from now on.

I will say that my husband shovels more snow then I do. But I do help when I can. The sad fact is that my husband shovels a heck of a lot faster then I do. I'm mostly the one that shovels the walk ways and puts the salt down when it is icy. He shovels behind the cars so we can get out of our driveway. Usually the plows block our driveway in. But recently our neighbors got a 4 wheeler and added a snow plow in front of it so he plows us out :D But since we've barely had any snow this year, I guess it doesn't matter :(

No one, because we have ice melt on the driveway, and if we didn't I wouldn't do it anyways because we don't drive.

It is awful for this woman to wake her husband to shovel the snow. I believe that we are just as capable of doing these kinds of things. Shoveling snow is not a big deal, it is not that it is hard work. My family all shares the responsibility in doing this. Depending on who is leaving at the time is usually the one that gets the pleasure of shoveling the snow. I would never wake my husband to do it as he works just as hard as I do. That is just carziness and unthoughtfull on her part.

we don't have snow where i live(southern tennessee), but if we did i would shovel it myself in that situation. that poor guy. my step-mom is like that. they live in florida so snow isn't an issue, but makes my dad do all sorts of "man" things instead of doing them herself. i do help my husband with yard work though.

well my dad shovels the walkway, then gets out the tractor and plows the driveway (its a forth of a mile driveway lol) i think women just dont like it. i never have. i'll get out here when its able to be swift away, but im not very able to lift a heavy shovle full of hard compacted snow. we will not do it if there is someone stronger then us to do it for us. but i would operate the tractor if i was asked. just not the shovle! lol ♣

I usually shovel our snow, but when we lived in our old house our neighbor, bless his heart would plow our driveway. I would call and thank him and tell him that he would not have to do it, but he said since he had out his plow that it only takes a few more minutes to do ours and he didn't mind. Now, we live somewhere else and luckily we haven't had much snow here this year, but I will shovel it if needed.

Actually...we take turns. However...usually it is my boyfriend. We just had our first snowfall and my son and I could not find the shovel. When my boyfriend came home he auto matically started shovelling...I explained to him about the shovel..but he was fine with it...

I shovel ours, or my husband does, whoever has the extra time. Or sometimes all of us get out there together and do it. If, god forbid, something should ever happen to my husband I'd like to know that I know how to take care of these things. My friends neighbor won't ever put gas in the car herself, makes her husband do it.

I'll be honest, my husband is usually the one that shovels the whole driveway but that is because he is up before I am. He leaves for work at 6 a.m. and I don't get up until 6:00. I get home from work before he does, so I often will shovel if there's been any snow during the day, and I will also shovel our walkway pretty often. But as far as the whole driveway, that is usually him. I have no problem with shoveling and I think if you are physically able, you should do it. Whoever is home should do it.

We don't get very much snow here so I don't really have to worry about it. I don't think we've ever had to shovel snow since we've been married. The driveway has been icy before but people don't work out here when the road is too icy or snowy so we just stay inside and it melts itself.

We sometimes have a problem at my house. I can't shovel because of health conditions. Well a little but not much. My mom has spinal stenosous, needs both knees replaced and just had a hip replacement. So shoveling for her is out of the question...she can barely clean off her car..lol My 26 yr old brother lives here but works nights. He gets home around 4am. So he will shovel when he gets hoome..but. We don't wake him up to do it later in the morning.. sometimes we just drive through it if possible. My sister in laws Uncle comes and plows but usually not right away....ahh life..

I know what you mean, kitty...My husband works really hard and I like to help out as much as I can; being a stay-at-home mom and all. When we had 15 inches in one day, just before the start of winter, I went out as a suprise to him and shoveled the walkway and a lawn path so that CJ could get on bus. When he saw it later he really appreciated it; I had a disc removed years ago, so it wasn't that easy and my back did hurt a bit for awhile. But it was worth it to see the look on his face...lol
