As we've all probably heard by now (and I do believe I've seen a post or two relating to it), an ice storm whipped through the midwestern states. It left quite a few people without electricity (including some places here in Michigan, as well).
I'm very lucky I'm not in one of the areas that lost electricity, and hopefully if they don't have electricity yet, that they will soon. Until then though, I wanted to share a picture I took of the tree's that border the sides of my yard and show everyone how beautiful the ice looks hanging off the tree's. Expecially since today is one of those great days where the sun is shining and we can get a nice glance as the sun reflecting off the ice on the tree's. Before it melts, anyway.
Whenever this happens, I can't help but be awed at how beautiful it looks. I really just wanted to share that with all of you as well.

We got the storm also. A ton of schools are closed today and tomorrow. My mother owns 22 acres of land and she said if you stand on the porch you hear the trees falling from the weight of the ice on them. She said it is beautiful. She just doesn't like her trees falling apart.

Yeah, I can hear limbs breaking too, from the pressure of the ice. Luckily, nothing broke off our big tree in the front yard. That tree, though, is a pretty tough one. It has survived through a lot of storms.

Great picture.. I am at work in NY and I look out a big picture window-- Right in front of that is a Big tree-- Its covered with snow and ice.. Its so beautiful when the sun hits it- It glistens..
We were supposed to get hit with the same storm 2 nights ago.. I'm glad we didn't. Back in 1991 we had a terrible ice storm-- I could not get into my car for 3 days- So much ice.
Last night it snowed here on top of the ice.. Its great to look at- but treacherour to drive in.
Be careful out there!

It wasn't last night, but the night before that it hit here. Yesterday was too cold to even think about stepping outside for a picture. But today I got the chance, and since the sun is shining it made for the perfect picture opportunity.
As far as I can tell, the ice is pretty much off our roads now. It's just falling off the trees.
