Yes, I make sushi. I usually do rolled (maki) sushi. I use crab sticks (you can get these at the asian grocery), cucumber sticks, carrot, pickled radish and avocado most often. If I feel like splurging, I go to the fish market near my house and but their sushi grade tuna. You really only need about a quarter of a pound to get 4 servings of tuna, so it doesn't work out to be too expensive.

I've never personally tried, but my husband just made some over the weekend. He has only made the California Rolls and Philadelphia Rolls though. Haven't tried making anything raw yet since I'm pregnant...want to keep it safe.

We do "hand roll night" every couple of months. I make rice (Japanese short grain). I put it into a large shallow bowl. I add dried sushi rice seasoning (sweet vinegar). Fold it in lightly, then cool the rice down. Then I take seaweed sheets, toast them over the open flame on my stove (to crisp them just a bit), cut them into 5"x5" squares. I slice the fish I bought (usually tuna, yellowtail and salmon), then I lay it out on the table and my family has a great dinner. It's really easy. But make sure you buy "sushi-grade" fish at a reputable shop.
