I am confused as to how a guy can have kids and then not be responsible. I have 3 girls, ages 9, 5,and 4 to a man who has no responsibility. He is remarried and has 3 more kids all boys -- him and his wife life off of the government, welfare. I am not eligible for child support because of this. Do other states have laws like this?

I am from PA as well and have never heard of this! Have you ever applied for benefits through the state? I do know that if you try to get medical assistance, food stamps or cash benefits through PA and you put that you do not live with their father that they want to know where the father is and why he isn't contributing. Then they want to go after him. I would think that if you need that money and they are exempting him due to welfare that you should be eligible for welfare to make up for what he isn't paying you. I would also think that if you found the right lawyer (the state helps with that if you are eligible) that they would help you out. They should force him to get a job. He can't live off of welfare forever...unless he continues to reproduce. I hope everything works out for you because that is a lousy situation!

I am not eligible for any benefits through the assistance office, they say I make too much money. I don't expect teh government to support my kids, however I think their father should contribute. I know he may not be able to afford much, but what about a few dollars a week. . .just something so I can at least say he is trying.

That dont sound right..in ma they still set a child support order even if the father has no job....and if he dont get one to pay what the judge set he can go to jail if u press the issue...as long as he is not disabled he can work and give something to u. even if he is on ssi the will take the money out his chaeck and send it to u. my state is 18.65 per child for guys who dont work and later u can come get it ajusted once u find out that he is working.

Yes unfortunatly they do but you should be able to get Welfare to This is why so many don't work and live on Welfare so they do not have to pay the Child Support but that goes for Women as well as Men

That just does not sound right. No matter what he is doing he should still be responsible for those kids.If he is getting any kind of money or assistance he is still suppose to take care of his kids or he is in violation of the courts. If it was stated in your divorce decree that he pays child support and he does'nt he is in violation and you should take him back to court or call your local child support division and ask them what you should do.He could possibly be facing jail time also depending on how far behind he is in payments.
