I learned playing the piano since I was 12 years old. But I didn't continue once I entered a higher education when I was 16 years old. So I had only 4 years of learning piano. However during the 4 years, I knew how to read a little note and play some simple songs. Now when I am bored I will play the piano. It feels so relaxing. My mind will drift to another place which is so peaceful and calm. What about you? what is your opinion about the piano?

You're welcome. Yeah, I recite the Quran too. My most favorite surah is Al-Waqiah and each time I recite it tears would burst all of a sudden... such peace and tranquility of mind...

I took piano lessons from the age of 6 to 12. Only stopped because my mother kept hounding me to practice even though I already had my next lesson down pat. I regret that decision now but I do still play once in a while for my own enjoyment. I have an electric Yamaha portable. Some of my friends seem to like what I play....it's all adlib because I can't remember all the music I played way back when. I can accompany myself singing with just chords but that's about it. I don't play a classical piano....just my own concoctions....nothing worth writing home about but I enjoy it. I love going to piano bars or restaurants that have piano playing in the background. Plus I have many CDs of various classical pianists. My favorit is Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven...that is really soothing.
I always wanted a grand piano but never lived in a place where one would fit.

Me too, I want a grand piano but my place is not suitable. But once I buy a house, I'll consider buying one, lol...

Yeah.. I think there must be something like an 'aura' that comes out of the sounds of the piano... lol... whenever I play it the feeling is undescribable... so carried away...
Now I can play songs on the spot if the notes is simple. If the notes is complicated, I have to read them really slowly, putting the A,B,C... above the notes.. lol... and practise really slowly. But I don't care. I love playing piano. :)

The piano is the best instrument. It has a broad range. I love it. I wish I had learned the piano.

I've been practising to play "Fur Elise" by Beethovan for years now... lol... but I haven't mastered the flow of my finger movements... it is so frustrating when I can't play the whole song without any error... lol... but it is a satisfaction when I can actually play that song, even if it's not as smooth as the breeze of gentle wind... it feels like being in heaven...

I have to agree with that. The music from piano has such calming effect.I love listening to Yanny and have some of his collections , but I have only used the keyboard(synthesizer).I also love the violin and someday would love to learn playing both,if possible, lol.

Playing the piano is very relaxing. However, sometimes the learning process can be grueling, especially with works that are very difficult. However, I always have a sense of accomplishment when I can overcome this barrier. When I play, basically my mind is empty (in a positive way). I think you should continue your lessons so that maybe you can play a greater variety of songs.

Yeah, I agree with you. Especially when it comes to the drilling part... it makes me crazy sometimes trying too hard to push myself to remember the keys and the position of fingers on the piano. But heck, I kept trying and trying until I'm tired. The next day when I sat infront of the piano, I sensed there is an improvement to the skills. That's what made me want to further and further practising. Your suggestion to continue studying piano really makes me eager and look forward to it. Yess.... I would LOVE to continue learning it. I know someday I would. :)

I share the same feeling with you. Whenever I'm depressed and tired I play on the piano and suddenly get carried away by the sweet songs made by the piano and me. It feels like a bird flying freely in an open sky. I'm glad I learned how to play the piano. I'm still learning some techniques because I'm a bit slacker about practicing my fingers for flexibilty.

It works for the depression time, yeah... me too. Do you actually go to piano lessons or learn by manual book or something?
