Why are tattoos considered "Trashy"?

Tattooing is definitely an art form, plain and simple. The tattoo artists are extremely good at what they do and I give them mad props. I do not think tattoos are trashy, it is just unfortunate I can never get one. I have this thing with needles, and yah it never turns out good. If I ever could get a tattoo I would get some tribal art.

well to a person like me tatoos and piercing stuff is just freaky and is not sober, i think one shouldnt mess with the natural beauty of his/her body

One of the reasons s all the bad guys in movies for time immemorial are tattooed.I admire tattoos but will hesitate having them on me.Who knows when I want to get rid of them I want be able to or it will become an expensive and painful affair.

I dont think tattoos are trashy, they are actually art. if you do watch the tv series "Prison Break", you will find tattoos are not trashy but very useful.

I do not think tattoos look trashy, I just think they look painful! I can't stand needles so that's one reason I could never do it, and I also can't even stand ink on me (like when they stamp your hand at a bar) so I'm never going to get one. I don't care if others get tattoos, but the reason I don't like them (besides the pain) is because I just don't think everyone uses the best judgement with them. Some get them in places where you can never hide them and they end up standing out even when they try to be dressy. Others get things that may have suited them at the time, but once they grow up it just looks odd. I also hate when people get them for the sole reason of being rebels. I mean if you really want one, go for it, but don't do it to be "cool" or because your parents said no. Those are the ones that people usually end up regretting! I don't think less of people who do it, I just know that I don't want one.

I think people basicly stereotype others with tattoos as being trashy just because of a few bad apples.

Well, I guess it's a matter of social perception, which changes as time passes by. I'm sure people used to be much more hostile towards the idea of having tattoos.

The only negative feeling is the person who is doing all this, is trying to look different by getting pain in His/Her body. It seems more like a complex to be different from others so that people can observe him or give atttention towards him.

beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and that it's indeed very subjective.what might be beautiful to you might not be beautiful to other.ideas of people doesn't really matters.what matters most is that you feel good and beautiful with your tattoos on.

yuck, i really hate tattoos, all my friends are getting them and they think its all cool and all, kids my age should be into them but im not, im really disguisted by them and annoyed by anyone that i see wearing one.

I dont think they are trashy, i have 2 of them and i want more. They express my life and tell a story about my life.

Tattoos are pretty cool I think. Not everyone has the talent to do them and thus it is an art. I myself have no tats but i wouldn't mind one or two. I agree that people are ignorant as to where tattoos began infact tatts have been found on bodies that date back as far as 4000 years. Some people's even record their tribal and familial histories through their tattoos. As of thinking less of people with tattoos well that's just ignorance. It is not the tattoo that defines the person ,but the heart. Getting a tattoo is always an important decision it must never be done with a half hearted spirit. It must be thought over and carefully chosen. Because once that it is on there it's on there for good. unless your willing to spend a few hundred or thousand to remove it. Reguardless of how dumb or retarded some people may be about tattoos, where they come from, or what they think of them everyone is entitled to their opinions.

Tattoos are trashy? Everyone does what he want's but tattoos can't be considert trashy because they are like a necklace or a jewel something that makes you and your body special and nice. It is true that with getting older tattoos become day by day more terrible but there are also existing laser-treatments to remove them. Greets

A lot of people feel that tattoos are trashy is because the majority of people that have them these days are usually uneducated. How many doctors or attornies do you know covered with tattoos? This is a general rule, not intended to hurt or offend anyone. I am sure educated people have them too. But, most of the motor cyle gangs are covered with them, and that is what people associate tattoos with.

I think tattoos are awesome. I want to get one but have found it difficult to find the picture i want. I dont think less of people with them. Im not very judgemental, each to his own is my theory. Try not to take someones opinion to personally. Its there opinion and its what you think that matters...

I think they are really sick..its better you dont put any tatoos on your hands or bodies.. it really luks odd.. so just take my advice..

My attitude towards tattoos is ambivalent, on the one hand I think you should have any right to express yourself and it could be kinda cute and/or cool, on the other hand some people do too many at a young age and then regret it, plus I don't see why you should you permanently "paint" your skin. My friend keeps adding tattoos to his body and he's only 16! I think people should limit the tattoo age to 21 because younger kids just don't consider the fact that they are going to live with them for the rest of their lives.

I love tattoos . I got my first one last summer and was so disappointed at how small it was . Can't wait to go for my next one now . I believe tattoos are a way of expressing how a person feels and what their interests are . I don't think any less of people for what they look like , what they wear or how they dress , it is on how the person acts as an individual that counts .
