I am back after being away from my computer for 3 days! We were helping a friend move. You don't miss being on the computer when you are busy with other things. If you are finding that you are becoming obsessed with being on the computer, try to keep yourself busy in other ways. Take up a craft. Volunteer your services. Visit a friend or family member. My mother told me that she wanted to give up her computer after finding herself locked to it for many hours at a time. I told her that she needs to only do it for shorter periods. I told her to make a schedule of when she will be on the computer and adhere to it. Nobody forces you to sit in front of the pc all day. Only you can limit yourself.

have you ever tried sewing or quilting? or maybe another craft? I found that during my last few weeks of pregnancy with my daughter an when I couldn't do a whole lot sewing kept me pretty occupied, of coarse I didn't have a computer at the time, lol. We finally bought a pc when my daughter was like 2 months old last September. I had to go to my mom's and use hers all the time before, and at 36 weeks pregnant that wasn't much of an option cause I couldn't fit behind the steering wheel of the car too well and she lives an hour away.

I am sorry that you have the flu, I hope you will be well quickly.
My foot is really getting to me. I cannot walk for 2 months. I cannot afford the doctor and tests, so it won't heal.
I am an artist, so I do plenty of that. The weights can be a nice idea, but only for a few minutes a day. That is why I am on here so much.
Thanks for caring and trying to help me out.

It's hard to get enough physical movement in your day with a bad foot. Have you considered working out with weights for your upper body? There are many exercises you can do that don't involve your feet. The downside of crafts is most of them are done sitting down. So I have to work hard and be creative to get enough exercise in my life. Right now I have the flu so no exercise for me.

How impressive is that! Do you think you will be able to stay away from yours for longer periods of time? I actually find myself running to the computer in the evenings during commercials to play a game. I'm so hooked - it is way worse than smoking!~Donna

I am not so sure about the smoking thing.....quit 29 years ago. But, I can say that I need to move my fingers when not at the computer. I did bring my crochet project with me and finished a blanket for my granddaughter Persephone.

Welcome back, we, missed you. I can stay off my computer when I have to get other things done. But I do find myself putting things off so I can be on here. Also somethings just don't get done that I should be doing. But its winter time, its time for hybernating.

I have many things to do today. It is too cold to venture outside, so I will putter around in the house. The boys want to take over the computer room. Learning to share will be hard for me. I am selfish when it comes to my pc.

I catch my self on the comp for hours at a time. but through out the week i am often gone to my boyfriends house for 3-4 days, lol but when i get home i sure do make up for it. I am on the computer alot cause i dont watch alot of tv..so it makes up for lost entertainment. Sometimes i tell myself "your on this thing way tooo much" and i get off for a while and do something else...clean, read a book, exercise..

Not a problem, but when you spend more time in front of the pc and less time out in the real world....that is not a good thing.

Welcome back and hope you didn't over do it during your friends move. You are right though, if a person is busy doing other things, then the computer isn't missed too much. I enjoy my time off of the computer because I work on it so much anyway with my job. Then finding time to be on MyLot is a chore for me, *laugh*. It's nice to have you back!

Thanks for good post which is very much required now, since it is festival season. Even I was away from mylot from 15/01/07 to 18/01/07 today ( 19/01/07) around 09:30 AM IST I logged in.
I went my native place to attend my cousins marriage on 17/01/07 and I really enjoyed my native as well as the marriage.

I've been off the computer for several days also. I pulled the muscle that runs in your upper thigh to your groin. It was aggravated every time I sat at the computer...don't have the right kind of chair, I guess. So, I had to stay away! It was hard! I missed everyone! I missed typing and answering discussions...I'M ADDICTED! LOL! Besides, there have been so many times when I planned to only "get on the computer for a couple of minutes" and ended up staying for a couple of hours! Time sure passes when you're having fun!

Very good advice!!! I never allow myself on here unless no one needs my attention and I am between chores and activities. Spending too much time on the net is not good at all. There is life going on and your being passed up by it.

Yah i too feel its hard to be without Mylot. I joined 3 weeks ago and i am now crazy about this site. I got to log in each day and post some replies. My day is incomplete without Mylot. It has become the part of my daily work. I always find time for it between my works..whether its late night or afternoon. When i am away from computer..i still think of it...Thinking of questions that i will put up on here. Mylot has changed me a lot...!!

welcome back, lol, I too am addicted, but not solely to my computer, but to mylot, lol. I am addicted I swear, but I can take time away and survive lol. I find that if I am preoccupied else where it helps too, but all day long when I am cleaning house and caring for the kids I find my self coming back to the computer and to mylot alot. But I feel that if I manage to get my things done and the kids are properly cared for then it is ok, however I probably do need to pick back up on my sewing a bit more and leave the computer to rest some times :) lol

Thankfully, hubby and I share the housekeeping duties. I have been searching the web for jobs and coming back to MyLot in between! Hubby is getting antsy and wants the computers for a bit.

Welcome back, and we missed you. I was off here in the last two days, I logged on to view some things, but that was it. I have been occupied with a job application and interview, and I'm on here right now to get my computer frenzy out of my system, and to ease my nerves....I have a 2nd interview this evening for a job I really want, and I'm nervous! I agree, you have to find some other hobby, or task to do to keep you busy.....even with 4 kids, a husband, a house, and a cat, and a lot of other stuff to do....I dont "feel" right if I dont get on the computer, and atleast check my emails, or mylot....or something....I feel as though I am missing something. Lately we have had to use our computer to view movies since our DVD player only works occasionally and is very frustrating....I was finishing up the Season 5 of 24, and then watched the new season that started Sunday/Monday nights....but as soon as it was off....I automatically went to the computer....turned it on...then my husband said....lets watch The Sentinel....and I gave in....but didn't regret it. I love to crochet...and I haven't in about 8 months since I've been doing so many things on this computer...do they have a group for computer addicts? I may need to find that out and receive some help..LOL!!

Great that you have a 2nd interview. That is a good sign. I would love to get a foot in the door with the jobs I have applied for. This is getting frustrating.
My sister watches 24. I am going to have to get the DVD and find out what all the buzz is about.

I think that I would have gone crazy without my computer for 3 days, although if you're busy and enjoying the company of friends it's different. It's not like you were home and couldn't use the computer because it was broken... That's when it would get to you. I have to set limits for myself, also. I could literally spend hours and hours here if I let myself. I get going on one thing that leads to another then another... That's why I don't do it right before bed anymore, because then I'll lay there thinking of things that I want to do online. You're lucky that you're talented with crafts; at least that gives you something productive to do when you're not at the computer. Congratulations on quitting smoking so many years ago, by the way! I quit 4 years ago, and it's the best thing that I could have done for myself.

I am glad you are back. I missed you. I keep pretty busy with volunteer work on a regular basis. I run a nonprofit foodpantry for low income families and that keeps me pretty busy. I love helping others. There is no better feeling than knowing you made a difference in someone elses life.
