This is a very straight forward questions which many of people wont agree, as we all know pig is the only animal in which female pig is not satisfied by s single male partner and a male partner allows other pigs to satisfy her female pig, and this is the quality present in pigs so by eating meat of a pig will bring the same qualities in people also, which is very strict in Islam and which is common in other caste who eat Pork, they get themselves involved to other partners for satisfaction, they don't respect people as much as a Muslim does, so Eating Pork is strictly banned in Islam, Do you have any comments in this, Does everyone agree to this point or no?

Ha ha ha ha ha, no it is just superstition that you will develop the characteristics of the animal you eat. Muslims don't eat pork because their scripture is derived from Judaism in which eating of pork is prohibited. It is wise not to eat pork unless you can be very certain about its preparation since it is the host for the Human tapeworm

Yes it is banned in Islam. Uhm, and so?
We repect that because your religion forbids eating pork. But still, pork is sold in some supermarkets in the UAE for non-Muslims.
There. Satisfied?

I don't think so that pork is sold in any super market in UAE, and if its sold i am sure none of muslims are eating it, and i am sure no muslims will eat, just people like who are not satisfied eat it. Try to accept the fact of life dear.

Btw, when did i ever say that Muslims eat pork? i told you i agree that you muslims don't eat pork because it's haram right? What I'm saying is that pork is sold in select supermarkets in UAE. What's the big deal with this thread anyway? if you don't want to or do not eat pork, then dont! No one's forcing you to eat pork.

Well... don't be too harsh on your comment. I totally agree that Muslim can't eat pork and I don't eat pork too. I am faithful to my religion. But the reason of not eating pork is not because of the nature of the animal. Scientific research has proved that in the body of a pig there are a lot of small worms that are resistant to extreme heat. Even if we boil the pork, or fry it or grill it, the worm in the meat would not die. The worms can cause harmful diseases which I was not sure what it is. But this is the main reason why we should not eat pork, Muslim or not. Shouldn't we be graceful to other people who are not Muslim so that they will not look at Muslims as jerks? Just think about it. We are Muslims and we respect others. Anyway I wish you all the best and I pray for your happiness and blessings from God.

Well, I am a non-muslim with a lot of interaction with my muslim friends. Although, I have not talked with them on this subject categorically, but as far as I know pig is not eaten because it feeds on filth. There may be other reasons in the religious scriptures, in order to scare people away from it. But I don't agree that eating pork makes one walk into the shoes of a pig. Is eating buffalo makes one as stupid as a baffalo? Besides, a number of great scientists have been eating pork.

Ladysurvivor, what you say is incorrect, science shows that the human tapeworm carried by pigs is destroyed by extreme heat and cannot be passed on to the consumer.

I know it is muslim culture, and I cannot give any comment on it.
I think people will respect the culture that some people have, don't argue that it is correct or not correct.
Pork is the mainly meal food in China, but in some place, some people don't eat it.

Hahahaha....lol..lol. Just can't stop myself from laughing out LOUD. Ok, first let's get one thing straight. Pigs are animal, wether it's female or male. We are human. I don't see any corelation between what you eat effects in who you'll become. There's no scientific proof of that, right? There won't be any, i'm sure.
God have created animals as a source of food for us. And anything that is created by God, are good for us. Pray before every meal.
And why is it forbidden for a female pig to mate with more than 1 male pig? When in Islam a man can marry more than 1 woman??
That's totally unfair.

Great comment, I didn't even think about Islams relationship to polygamy. That is too too funny.
You busted this one in half, without even bringing up that most animals are "polygamist" anyways! hah!

Is this actual Islamic doctrine, that eating pork leads to promiscuity, or is it just an opinion you've heard somewhere? I know that the Old Testament ( part of the bible common to Christians and Jews so far as I know ) forbids eating swine because they have cloven hoofs yet don't chew their cud ( deuteronomy 14:8- the next few verses forbid eating many other animals, such as owls :) ). Perhaps Islamic tradition stems from the same reasons, which were valid at the time?

Yes exactly, and also because Pigs are omnivorous, meaning they do eat meat. They won't hunt for meat but they will eat it if they find, who says meat says blood, and as blood is also prohibitted in the Old Covenant...every other "eatable" animals are only herbivorous and ruminants. On another hand, Islam didn't prohibit eating of pig, only one piece of the pig was prohibited, but they forgot whitch one, so in doubt, they don't eat any part of it. Pig meat is also the hardest to preserve.
Now, lol, if not eating pork was preserving from promiscuity, one would know, and really no need to eat it to be close from them, we're actually very close, anatomically (meaning with the organs) and biologically. On another hand, paradoxally, the pig is one of the most intelligent animal, classified just behind dophins, big apes, crows and parrots (that means more intelligent than horses, dogs, cats or whatever)

Eating of pork can cause no less than seventy different types of diseases. A person can have various Helminthes, like roundworm, pinworm, hookworm, etc. One of the most dangerous is Taenia Solium, which in a layman’s terminology is called tapeworm. It harbours in the intestine and is very long. Its o eggs, enter the blood stream and can reach almost all the organs of the body. If it enters the brain it can cause memory loss. If it enters the heart it can cause heart attack and if it enters the eye it can cause blindness. If it enters the liver it can cause liver damage. It can damage almost all the organs of the body.So better not to tke in pork to your stomach

I think what as what most responders say, pork is a source of many worms, significanlty more than other animals. According to the Bible it is prohibited to eat the flesh of animals whose hooves are divided and who don't chew the cud, of birds that don't fly and fish without scales. This means that we Christians can't even eat shark.
Some Muslims don't even like to see the picture of a pig, which I think is not prohibited, as I have seen Porky Pig cartoons on Saudi Television. It is actually the Dog whom the Muslims must avoid even touching.
According to Buddhism, the dominant religion in Sri Lanka, you can't even kill a animal so they should be vegetarians. But only about 10% of them are vegitarians in Sri Lanka, but the Hindus in Sri Lanka are 90% vegetarian.
I of course I love Pork and have been eating for the past 45 years. I am 50. It is delicisous, with manioc and Toddy which is our local brew.
I am 50 and recently I went for a routine medical check up and my doctor called me a paragon of health. I have not cholestorol, no diabetics and I exercise and live well. Maybe all those worms were extra nourishment.
But some of the things stated in the thread could be correct. Evere since the age of 5 todate I have this urge to go behind every beautiful girl I see.

It is not at all factually correct to state that pigs are the only animals that have more than one partner.
Genetic testing on lion cubs, for instance, revealed that the cubs' fathers were not necessarily the patriach, but other lions lower in the heirarchy.

Definitely, as anybody who has ever bred animals of just about any kind can tell you very few of them are picky about who they mate with at all! Many of our domestic animals, and pets, routinely carry a litter of babies that have more than one father. While I don't disagree that Muslims aren't supposed to eat pork, I do disagree that pigs are the only animal to have more than one mate.

Pigs live in dirtiest places. So by eating pork one is prone to get innumerable diseases. This philosophy of not eating pork becuase female pigs have multiple male partners is an archaic funda. We live in 21st century we should see things with logic and intelligence and not be bound by dogma.

I believe in the Bible, Mark 17: 18-20 God said that food can not be considered unclean because it goes into the stomach, not the heart, and then out the sewer.
In the Old Testement, certain foods were prohibited. But, then in further teachings, God has allowed other meats to be eaten. Of course, they need to be cleaned and prepared properly.

and poultry has the highest transfer and carrying rate of zoonotic diseases going, next to a human,it isn't the pig farms that are being destroyed on a daily basis but the chicken farms are, they are the dirtiest animal, though you can't always physically see it..
