What are your views on the other celebrity big brother contestents comment's about shilpa.
If you are not sure what's going on www.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6272585.stm
I assume that it's fairly well known in certain areas, because it featured in the indian news. And it is an issue that has been raised in parliament in the uk, and i believe the indian government are getting involved.
I think although they are very stupid for what they have said, one calling her a pakki, their hate is aimed at her and not at her race. I dont tend to watch the show but on occassions when i have, i have seen her to be a bit of a snob, looking down on the others.
But that doesn't excuse racist remarks, and i would hope that people don't think that what they have said reflects every briton's view. they definately don't speak for me.

It could or not been racist behavior. You cannot rule it out.You may be against racism that is good but it depends on the person who made it.How do you or we know about these women.
They could have doe it on purpose until they apologize for their act every one outside would definitely think bad.

Actually I don't think their dislike of her is racially motivated. I think it boils down to old-fashioned jealousy. She's beautiful, talented, intelligent, well educated, classy - all the things the 3 girls that are picking on her are not (nor will they ever be!). Because all 3 of the girls are pretty stupid the only response they have to her is to resort to ignorant comments. They are making themselves look stupid and when one of them is evicted on Friday (please let it be Jade!) they will find out how the British public view that type of bullying behaviour.

I agree with you on that. Jade is illiterate trash and the others are not much better. They are jealous of Shilpa because she is everything they are not and never will be. I just hope the majority of the rest of the world don;t tink their remarks are indicative of the average British person. It makes me ashamed to think of it.

this is nothing new but not so visible. but with this programme u see and hear the reality of racism in the minds of the people of the developed world for developing and underdeveloped world. Be it a sport, business, politics u name it there is discrimination based on above.
ther is only one way. the sreesanth way by hitting a six the next ball he bowled.face it and react to it completely in away they know we r no less in anyway. no need to take it any more enough is enough

in my oppinion it is being blown totally out of proportion. when jade was in the origional big brother she got worse things like that said about her all the time, and generalisations made about the place that she came from, but nothing was said then was it?
people are just so scared about being racist these days that as soon as anyone says anything as minor as that everyone just escalates it and makes it seem as if there are public killings of people from other religions on tv. things are often said about white people and americans but you dont see them all protesting saying that whoever made these comments should be put to shame and the program they are on to be shutdown.

although I would condemn the racial remarks made on the show..I would agree that all people are not the same..its just that some people think that they belong to a better breed and look down on others..although such people would always be there all over the world..what we can do is try our best to spread the message of peace and equality...i believe that in the end rationality would prevail

See, I do not watch shows like that because to me they are full of it. Seriously, why do people watch reality television? It is stupid. Is there not enough drama happening in the real world? Is there not enough stupid people in the real world? Why not just watch something fun and funny? I like to watch "Heroes" at 9PM on Mondays on NBC. It is smart, dramatic, funny, and something that makes a person think?

YA THATS SURE IF THE WORD PAKKI IS SAID TO HER OR AIMED AT HER BUT THEN ALSO IT MUST BE CONDEMNED AS NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO USE THESE WORDS IN HUMILIATING AN INDIVIDUAL .ITS SIMPLY SAYING NEGROS TO THE BLACK AND IF ITS ADOPTED BY THE WESTERN NATIONS THEN IT HAS TO BE FULLI OBEYED ALSO NA.
THAZ THE ISSUE . MORE OVER THE SHOW PRODUCERS, DIRECTORS AND ALL OF THEM SHOULD TAKE A STEP TO STOP THIS AS IT REALLY MAKING A BAD IMPRESSION AND ALSO INTERNATIONAL PRESS G2 ESCALATE THE SITUATION RATHER THAN MAKIN IT STAND.............................

I think the girls are being really nasty to Shilpa, but I don't think it's racially motivated. I think it's typical of what happens in an environment where there are a lot of girls together, girls can be nasty and frequently end up pulling each other to pieces to make themselves feel better. I think they're probably jealous of Shilpa and feel quite threatened by her strong personality and as a result feel they have to bully her to drag her down to their level. I think that the remarks they have made such as "go back home" and calling her a "dog" are purely due to ignorance rather than racism. I cannot believe how much of a frenzy Jade worked herself into last night though, I really thought she could have hit Shilpa...and all over a stock cube. I hope she gets voted out on Friday.

Silpa is a famous Indian actress and this is a very bad news what happened with her. This kind of things should be avoided. Even the TV channels should be concious about such events and do not make these for increasing their popularity.

The only thing i can say is, she was representing a nation and her rights should be safegaurded. Show's co-celebs dont have any right to say anything abusive reagrding one's nationality.

All I've taken from this event is how well the media can elevate a situation. The word racist and racism are over used buzzwords. Maybe they don't like her as 4ftfingers says because they thought she was a snob, so perhaps the pick on the one thing they can use it as an insult. Lets say you didn't like Jade and you called her a 'dumb blond' now would the media blow up 'blondism'? It's not that I don't think what was said should'nt have been said, I'm just anti-media hype on what is really a common insult found through the UK. Government geez, anything for a vote?
